    About three hours...

We will start with a small ceremony to make the Mod-Gods happy. We will stand and kneel a lot like a catholic ceremony but with 2 cycle oil instead of holy water.

We will thank every past Hall of champions winner and remind everyone of the Modified heritage. We will explain every flag and every possible use of the flags. We will go over a flag start. We will not be using a flag start, but we just want to keep you informed in case it is necessary.

This will be a formal event and a tie is required. There will be no chairs allowed and we will be bringing in 20 unchanged newborns to spread around the room.

Any driver that is late will be required to let me pick their prop for the first heat of eliminations.

Ok OK... No APBA in most cases has the drivers meeting the day of the race.

At nationals we will have the drivers meeting on Thursday night. If you have a real reason to miss this meeting see Jack Stotts. Some of the reasons that are acceptable to miss this drivers meeting would be like donating a kidney, you giving birth to a child (missing it to witness the birth of your child is not acceptable... you should stay home anyway!) etc...

          Driver's meeting.

David, At all the APBA races I've been to, we're all just as anxious as you to get done with the meeting and "get on with it". Sometimes the meeting gets stretched out a bit 'cause we're trying to fill the patrol boat roster.
And besides, the driver's meeting is a great time to get some Kevcoffee. He always has his stand set up at the meeting place.
          Hope this helps.

Seriously, though, the reason we are having the meeting the evening before is so that we can get an early start on Friday morning. We have no noise restrictions at Dillon and it makes sense to get on the water early. At this point we expect a VERY large number of entries, many elimination heats (all Nationals require 2-heat elims and 2-heat Finals). There are 13 classes of Mods to run and 9 classes of Stock/Junior North American Championships. That is a lot of racing to get done in 2 days (Sunday is a blow-out day only). Also, one of our goals is to run elimination heats and Finals on the same day for our classes. This helps pit crews, drivers, and race officials (especially inspectors). Also, since we are having 2 fulll days of sanctioned testing, we expect most of the drivers to be there already. Long story shortened.....driver's meetng the evening before. Party after the meeting! The thing that tends to make the drivers' meeting take so long is the roll call and this, in part, is due to too many people talking while the roll is being taken. Each feel that it is their time to visit with the person next to them and it goes down hill from there. We will attempt to do this required procedure as quickly as possible but it will require the cooperation of all.

                  Me too.

One question, since the drivers meeting is after testing, before racing (and it will most definately cut into our drinking time as per APBA rules, you can't drink alcohol past midnight on race days) can one enjoy an ice cold extra curricular beverage during the meeting ?

Is there going to be a seperate drivers meeting for the Stocks, since I am assuming that they won't be run until the Nationals are over?

Ryan, your assumption is NOT correct. The NAC's and Mod Nationals will be integrated in the schedule.

This happens at Wakefield, it makes for one loooooong, and long winded, meeting. No alcohol seems to speed things up

But the beverages make everyone not mind the length of the meeting! Besides, I heard Team AARP was buying for all those that are at the meeting on time!

                              Gents,
I specifically included the answer to the "alcohol question" in the APBA Sanction. "NO ALCOHOL will be consumed at this meeting". That being said, yes, Brian is correct, Team AARP will be providing FREE beer for "after the meeting". Mike Marshall, Race Director
