Why do we need A new K-pro motor? What does this have to do with HOC?

Com on Otis get yer head in the thread.....it has to do with those discussions we had in Inverness and keeping PRO moving forward. We could still allow the OMC but it won't around forever and they are not cheap. Look back at Joe's original comment and get up to speed.
You did an outstanding job this past week by the way!!!

I think the KT100 would make a great motor for the kids class.

                Yamaha KPro

I would be in favor of this. The OMC's are very expensive to obtain as they are stock engines sought after by the stock category. The last date one was built is several years ago I believe. I see these going to $2500 a lot right here on HR. Seems kind of expensive for a used hunk of metal. Compare that price to a good used real Pro engine.. about the same maybe only $500 more.

Someone needs to buy one of these Yamaha engines and bring it to the races for all to see and hear. Test it out on the water gather some data and maybe propose it for next season. I also feel it would be good to maintain it to the same speeds as the current K Pro. That way you wouldn't lose the cross overs, and the kids can remain happy and involved.

                  Kristi:

If you can talk Chris into making an adaptor plate, I have an extra OMC tower. This would allow you to test it on Travis's boat without changing anything.

My Dad had a lot to do with the first 125 motors we could keep it in the family. Your right this is PRO and maybe this is a way to find motors and keep the kids running or bring in more.

The KT100 comes in all states of tune from the base price of 695.00 to 3000.00 for a blue printed race motor. If your only going to go by CC as in pro then its going to become alot more costly then K pro is now. The real cost of the OMC isnt the powerhead its the rest of it that costs.

I don't think if we were to use this motor that we would want to put it on anything that looked like a stock tower. If we run this motor on methanol I think it would run in the 55-60 mph on gas maybe 45-50 mph???

I would be willing to make a brand new pro tower for the project. this would be the same style tower that I will be making for my new 125ccH. It will not clamp on. It will bolt on and will take any current pro gearfoot. This is no cheap tower. I have designed it on CAD and will be cutting it on some CNC machines. I think the KT100 would run great with a 11:17 Rossi,VRP or Konny foot. Let me know if I can help with the project.

Mr. Stillwell. Blueprinting is not worth all that many $$$. To the Kart guy's it my be because the have limits on what can be done to them. Blue printing a motor is not needed in Pro. Besides we have no limits on what we can do to are motors. Most of use do the work on them are selfs.

I agree that the OMC tower is not the way to go. But for testing purposes, it would allow us to drop it onto an existing boat w/ no modifications.

In addition to new and innovative engines we could go one step further…. The contemporary modern classes could drop out of the PRO category. After all, that name isn’t futuristic at all. We could call ourselves the Racing Outboard Extreme category, or ROX for short. What a great marketing tool. “Extreme Racing on Water that ROX!
And if for some reason it doesn’t work out, we can always go back to the PRO division with the Antiques. And since the precedence has already been set to start records over when a group rejoins the PRO ranks, we would dominate the HOC awards for quite a few years!

Mr Lights this was in no means to start a pissing match. I just stated what was out there and I dont care if you blue print to some specks or blue print to the max it still cost bucks and there are those that will pay those bucks. I never stated that you had to blue print a pro motor they are almost to the limit when bought so whats the sense. This motor isnt a pro motor when you buy it and as you stated you have no limits in specks or wallet size.
