As of today, racing,testing is cancelled at Lake Apthorpe. We are hoping this is a temporary situation.

PLEASE, PLEASE have respect for the local landowners and neighborhood association. ALL testing must be approved. Call Carl Staron for help with this. Insurance must be purchased as well as proper permits to meet the noise requirements, safety, etc.

The good ol days of testing and having fun on "cemetary" lake might be gone forever. If you need to test and want more races on this lake, again, call Carl to make arrangements. (no guarantees).

Boat racers need to learn to respect our PRIVILEDGE of racing and testing on waterways, not just in Florida, but throughout our country. We must police ourselves and not allow ourselves to loose anymore precious sites because of the irresponsibility of a few.

I talked to Carl today. He is hopefully getting things back on track. Hoping for a big race/test session the week end before Ocoee. A lot of northerners come down and have tested on this lake for years. Unfortunately, things change and the only way now is to have a sanctioned event with insurance. AOF insurance is the only affordable option.
We are hoping we can get enough to help pay for this and everyone having a good time too. If we can just keep the crazy boat racers that go after the fishermen off from now until the race we should be good to go.
And Walter, you are correct. The sheriff who lives on the lake is the one who catches them. No peer pressure needed once he gets ahold of them.
What is bad is those who are sneaking in now don't give a darn that the AOF drivers don't get a chance to race because of their foolishness.
