  • Lake Placid a Flopping Success

The grass roots $200 race paid off in spite of a low turn out of racers at Lake Placid this week end.
FUN was had by all. (And testing in perfect conditions for Jesup).
In addition the club made money, even with the light turn out. New to AOF members equaled 14! Where else has a race been a flop with 14 new racers added to the roster?
AND, a new club was formed - to-get this- stage races every month just down the road at Lake Wales. (The new club is in addition to Highlands Outboard Association).
Now central Florida can boast 2-that is TWO- track race sites with a race at each every month.
Travelling out of central Florida could be a thing of the past as the two venues will compliment each other, and more and more racers will be wanting to join in, and save their travelling money to put toward race equipment.
Thank you so much to all involved: Carl and Tony Staron, The Schlipf, Carter and McDermott families, and Linda Eldredge on the kneeldown end. And to Andy Anderson and Phil Zoeller (I don't know who else) from the SLT's who have made this happen.
AOF members, you are doing your job in promoting grass roots racing at it's best. Congratulations on your FLOP! It was a progressive success.

Special thanks to Carl & Tony Staron for all their hard work at Lake Placid Oct. 21 & 22. After being away from racing for 2 1/2 years, we were excited to come to Lake Placid with a novice driver, our 12 year-old son, Mike. All those present this weekend really helped Mike and gave him lots of support. He has now officially been 'bitten' by the racing bug. Looking forward to next month!!

    Sincerely,

    Dave & Lisa Carter

Dave, bring your son up to Jesup, we sure could use another J driver! There is even room for you to bring the CSH rig. I hope you can make it, it should be lots of fun with lots of boats!

            Walter,
The AOF bug probably won't catch on because it makes too much sense. It just cracks me up that all of the talk and posts to "fix" things in racing, when all along all those problems are already 'fixed" in AOF. lol
            Say hi to the family.

Dave............ Mike looks great in the pictures. Wish I could of been there. I'm happy to here about the speeds today (11/19/06). Been to busy to even think of getting in to the 125. That's why I think they boys could make something of it.
