  • AOF Points 9-28-06

Here are some AOF high points. This is NOT the finals. Some races are not reported yet. This will give you a good idea on whether or not you need to pack a trailer and head out to a race real fast. Note: A (*) behind the name designates National Champion. A (**) or (***) designates an Eastern, Winter, or Western Champion, and a (****) means that the driver set a new record for that class.

        Thanks,

I will "attempt" to answer this question as the AOF Technical VP, Howard Pickerell does not have internet access and everyone else is out racing.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

            SLORA Points

I must have a few additional points from the Newport AOF/SLORA race this year...

OK, I'm not afraid to speak!

Al, I am told there were problems with the Inboard points from Newport. The results for the entire SK class could have changes, so we hear. It's great that someone cares enough to take a second look. It just didnt add up but I didnt want to complain since our boat was in the thick of it! We are told Pat is working on it. I think it was the second Newport race that we won was missing from the total, we'll see what happens, but anyway it turns out, we had a very entertaining year even though I retired. Jerk told me you had a great morning stroll with him! Sure hope Inboards and Outboards can share pits next year! It wouldnt be the same at an APBA event.

One packet of points just arrived late last week. It had 5 post office cancellations on it before arriving at the office. We are updating points today. I guess these points got to see the world.
Glad you all had a good time. It sounds like AOF is going like gangbusters out there in the West. And Robin, your idea of co-op flatbottom/inboard races with APBA needs to be explored. It is certainly working well in the stock/mod/pro categories.

thanks Connie, We just watched video of that super event and I drove one heat to make a 3 boat final ski heat and had a ball, Jerk got out of the boat after his win and gave me the controls. It was his idea since I would finally get credit for actually driving and not him. We had a wild blanket race with the new girl Sharon in her Dads Ford powered #65 ski boat. Wow, we ran side by side for all three laps with the only guy in the field right outside one boat length behind! I am told it was the most exciting race all year! I even got a bow from the new girl afterward and she said "Girl you can drive". wow, no one ever complimented me ever. It is sure fun to retire with this great memory, then the best for last was Moses Lake Nationals where Jerk won and I got second in a borrowed boat, thanks Todd, when the other guy lost electrics in his boat! I was just cruising and was runner up! Sure hope those missing points were Newport, it might make a big difference to my husband and founding Father of the Nostalgia class. He seldome if ever gets credit for being an OK driver or for building motors that dont break! I know he got two wins and two seconds to win overall at 1400 points. thanks and you can buy my boat, its retired a winner! Now back to my job! See you soon.
