    Yelm Records

Two stock records were set yesterday at Yelm on a beautiful sunny day.
John Peeters bumped the CSH hydro record driving the Oberto Brothers boat and Mike Perman raised the ASH record in not so good water conditions.

one other record went to I belive 1.5 inboard something class at about 10 miles faster than the old record.

I did not catth the speeds of any of the records set, hopefully we will have those numbers for you later today.

It was your typical regoin 10 inboard race, hurry up and wait all day long and then run out of time to finish all the classes.

One dump.. Wally Johnson in a 5 litre barrell rolled after some interisting driving by the other boats in front of him. we was ok.

Actually, the Peeters/Oberto record was in 20SSH. With, I might add, a restricted 302. I did not catch the speeds of either of the outboard records, but I do know the ASH record was just a tick over the old record.

Actually, you should quit selling your Good Stuff, Daren: Overall Winner for Saturday in 20SSH was Rookie Sean Byrne, the first of only 2 legal starters for heat 2.

And yes, Sean DID go for an involuntary swim when he came in from his first heat (and race) win.

Oh, and the new 302 of Oberto's came out of Region 12, if you get my drift.

                  Fast weekend

all in all, a fast weekend, I wish that the water was smoother for the outboards on sunday. More records should have been broken, Dustin Echols was 1 mile over the 2.5L Mod class with a 104mph, with the old record at 103mph, but jumped the gun... Well done Mike Perman with the ASH record, wish you could have got to keep it, not enough boats?

Sounds familiar to the past Winternationals where all the hydro records were set with B&H hydros. Looks like the same pattern here for outboard hydros. Congratulations to those who showed their stuff!

                      A record

Thanks Tylor, it wasn't not enough boats, it was not enough finishers. 2 boats pulled off because the water was too rough. In a rule that most of us were unaware of 3 finishers are needed for a record. Talk about your classic case of s#@t happens. Congrats to all the record setters, what a great place to race. Tony

Yea, the boat I ran was a Pavlick. I was kind of funny, because after we set the record on Saturday (Jimi will start a thread and give you all the good/great/bad details - I can't spoil it for him - its in the contract) BoB, yes THE BoB, went home and grabed his old Pavlick, which is the ugly stepsister of Jimi O's Pavlick. I was told that there are a few older pictures of both BoB's and Jimi's Pavlicks coming out of a turn taken way back-in-the-day and then the same photo opt was this last weekend. Ohh, how the times, they are a changing!

Actually, the 20SSH record was with a Pavlick, and the Perman's ASH record was with a Permwell. Sorry, Sam.................
