News & Photos from Lake Placid online later tonight
News & Photos from Lake Placid online later tonight
What a day I need to get cleaned up and will post some photos later tonight, right now I am to full from the chicken dinner no flips and no one got hurt
We can't wait for the pictures and report. I talked to Tony who said the turnout was very light. Maybe that was a good thing since this club hasn't staged a race in three years. Site will have to rebuild and everyone will need to get in a groove. Sounds like he had a good time. I hope eveyone else did too. That is grass roots family racing at it's best, and those who did not show, it was their loss.
As season progresses, I am sure we will see more participation.
Wish I was there. I am hoping some of the PRO guys eventually come out of the woodwork for this site.

We all always hope for a large turn out, but a good thing can sometimes be made of what at first seems to be not so good...... Just use a low turn out race as test and tune session to get ready for the big one. I've never known getting together with friends and playing with race boats to be a bad deal.

We all had a good time, weather was great, and a super laid back no frills boat race happened! There was almost a full field of A's, with George Koehler running in front, and a great battle for 2,3,4th. They also ran ASR, JSH, Bmod, CSH and CSR, if I have my AOF classes right. Dan L ran well in his new ASH, only having 1st seen it this morning. Ron Selewach was very quick in his new Bmod/Stillwell/Hemp . He came close to blowing it over once, but got it back down. First run for him in this boat, as he rigged it in the pits on FRI,. I think the young lady who was posting here on the Rookie Thread won her first race of JSH, as there was a ceromonial drowning in the pits. She did not look like she needed any advice from us 'geezers, and appeared fully in charge out there. Taking about 'geezers, Reg2 was well reprEsented; -Pat Davids, Tom Cronk[u did not know he was from NY?] Larry Downs, Russ Waterson, yours truly, and Bill Giles, Larry Latta, John Madrell ,
amoung those that I talked to. Maybe the first race, other than Valleyfield long ago, where there were more spectators than racers, this in part to Carl Staron putting an article in the sports page of the Tampa Tribune. Some people showed up expecting Miss Budweiser!! It was a 'hoot'. Congrats to to Carl , and Tony, and their crew.
And now on to Sunday

Hey Brian,
Thanks for lumping me in with the geezers! Nice guy you are
You told me a few weeks back that this would be a great event and you were not kidding! We all had a blast! I saw license plates from NY, Ontario,
Mass., Maine, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, and I am sure there were others. There were a lot of retired racers that showed up from all over the country and loved the Lake Placid style. They are talking about getting some equipment and running the Lake Placid events.

Rich; Leave that snow be,it will melt in the spring. Take the plow blade off the truck and come on down. We race every month, and in March there is an APBA race at L'Wales, just north of here. Better yet, do the big circle like Steve French is doing; -hit here for a tune up, then west to the Nats in LA, and back on north in time for Carleton Place.
