Crap: Crap: DOUBLE crap! Stinkin' weather!

It's bone dry in Jesup until a boat race is there. The pits were perfectly groomed by the county park crew; the lake was the perfect level for easy lauching and loading; at least 10 boats were already there with us on Thursday and many more for testing on Friday. Friday nite came the news of tropical storm "Barry" headed our way and right on time it started raining.

The silver lining is that Southwest of the race site, thousands of crew are battling fires in Georgia and Florida and they REALLY needed a tropical storm to get ahead and they finally got it after more than a month of drought.

Thanks to Bob Dunlap and the rest of the crew for putting on the race. I'm very sorry the weather didn't hold out. It's cleared off today, but the heavy winds would not allow racing in spite of the sunshine.

I made the 6.5hr trek to Jesup Thursday after being away from racing nearly 1-1/2 years after my daughter's birth and it was a rainout. Great to see many of the old friends and great to make the practice laps on Thursday to dust off the boats.

We want to thank everyone for coming to Jesup, even thought it was a tropical depression both days and no boats went in the water. We had a good time with 4 inches of rain Sat and more Sun. We had a count of 70 boats and would have had some great racing if it could have happened!
