are going to get hurt with no boats. Why not move

In late May the series start racing, I believe USTS has Depue on Memorial Day, APR has High Point, NC on May 20 & 21, and CHAMP has Augusta, GA the same weekend. Are you saying the guys will stay home and support the local races instead of travelling?

Let's look at it like this to only the PRO category has 8 consecutive weekends and based on last years entries the 3-5 boats that consistently showed up, how is that going to really hurt the clubs?

From what people tell me is let's race week in and week out, if we didnt have series to contend with maybe we could spread the racing out over the summer, but we can't. Give some suggestions on date changes, so far all the suggestions I have made result in "thats when the city/town wants us, or that's the only weekend available" Let's get it fixed now so we can enjoy the racing while it is here and availablet o us in the spring.

WHAT!!! What gives? You're not alowed to leave. You're allowed to down size, but not leave. The Brooklyn contingent would be halved. I'm awaiting the return of one of my favorite drivers ... Also, James must defend Katie's trophy this year.

No, it is like the mofia, once you're in you aren't allowed to leave.

You need to get James into OSY/20SSH. It is much, much cheaper to be very competitive than ASH.

Can we move Lake Alfred out to July 3rd and 4th. In it's present slot it will probably be one of the races to get hurt. This should ease up the Pro schedule and give the stocks something local in the summer.
Lake Wales AOF is on the schedule 5 times and Lake Placid AOF 4 times. That is insane. The schedule is so peppered with these races, you have to do a data sort before you can get to the likely races. The last AOF race in Lake Placid there were not enough people to test let alone race.

We need to take "Baby Steps" with these AOF races. A few successful dates is beter than a dozen failures.

                  2 cents??

                    Lake Placid,

The problem with Lake Placid (as you probably know) is that the grove owners and neighborhood society group does not want testing except in a controlled situation and with insurance. That is understandable.
So, Carl and Tony have the dates so that some testing can be done and so that it is in a controlled envirionment. We don't want to lose testing or racing on this lake.
As long as they can pay for the sanction ($60) and the insurance ($200), I don't think that they are terribly concerned about the number of people. I would hope that anyone attending thiese test sessions/races/get togethers, are giving Carl some money to help pay for them. AOF payed for them out of our treasury last year and have told Carl he must pay for them this year if at all possible.
It is a shame to lose a grass roots race site. Also, apprantly some did not know there was a race last time, so Carl is expecting a few more next time and there will be a few snowbirds down to enjoy the Lake.
Also, since the SLTs have joined AOF, I am sure that some will be coming to Lake Placid. In addition it sounds like maybe the drags are going to be racing some there too with AOF. I dont' think the AOF races are a threat, but should be considered a complement to those who want to race the APBA races and you come if you want to to Lake Placid.
Actually, in my opinion, those are the FIRST races I would put on my calendar, but to each his own.

                      AOF,
                      I agree!

In this context it is a possitive venture. If I'm in town, I'm there and helping out. The race site in Lake Placid is beautiful and can accomodate 100 or more entries. We know because we have done it. The frustration is in not getting it up to speed as a strong annual event. If we need to do a joint APBA (points) AOF thing. let's do it.
Lakes this nice where we can hold a boat race are too hard to come by to just sit as a test site alone.

                      OK I've calmed down now.

                        Hey Bob,
Do you suppose we could get APBA to give points on these AOF races? I don't think Carl has enough money and I doubt if there are any sponsors to pick up to pay for an APBA race there. With the schedule like it is, I am doubtful we would get enough boats to break even if it was an APBA race. ...But since AOF is an APBA club maybe we can talk them into letting us give points to help save the site?
Maybe we should put some pressure on whomever we need to put pressure on?
Keep taking great pictures no matter where you race. They are awesome.

                                Oct
20 & 21 - Jesup, GA **APBA (all) (Peace River Club)
                                27 & 28 - Ocoee **APBA (SO/MOD/PRO/J)

The schedule posted by Howie is a comprehensive schedule, so I looked closely at the schedule and paired it down to strictly an APBA Stock racer's outlook. - See Above.

This schedule gives us 9 Stock races for the aprox. 40 APBA stock rigs in Region 5. Figure that Lakeland only invites specific Stock classes, and that would really leave 8 races for the APBA Stock racer.

8 Stock race weekends means 16 Stock races. 15 races are needed to be in the hunt for National High Points.

This schedule would allow a guy like Dave Bennet to win ASH National High Points without even leaving the region (If he can beat Wally Schlipf and Andy Mackrell that is.)

Joey Pinner, Joel Brown and Ken Godwin could duel for 20SSH National High Points by traveling no more than a couple of hours at most.

Could the APBA schedule be paired down by one or two races or spread out a bit more to February or June, perhaps, but this is an over all solid APBA schedule from a Stock perspective.

I also like the fact that there are 3 or so clubs involved, which should lessen tensions and allow club leaders to implement their own ideas on organizing/running a race. This also will help spread out the work so the same people aren't over loaded and over worked, every one gets to put in their fair share at a couple of races and relax/concentrate on their own rigs at a couple of races.
