We are relocated from Seattle and need to figure out the Florida Outboard Racing Association information and contacts. We race 20SS and a soon to be J driver and we noticed Florida starts racing way sooner than in Seattle so we want to be prepared. Please feel free to call us or email us

Welcome to Florida racing. My name is Doug McAlarney, DougMc on hydroracer, and I am the APBA 2008 Stock Activites Chairman. I run CSH/OSY/20SSH.

Here is what we have for a stock schedule so far for both APBA and AOF. You will find that most racers in Region 5 will run both APBA and AOF and there is a positive working relationship and borrowing of resources such as rescue boats, etc.

Sorry Doug...no OSY on the USTS this year.

K; -I was wondering what the rational was for this. OSY seemed to work in well at the two PRO races i attended last year in FL, but if your program is getting full at other venues , then I can see why.

We put OSY on for many reasons. One of the reasons being that in the past many of our USTS members raced OSY so we gave them a chance to run with us. The other reason was to give some of the local racers i.e FL, NC or MI a chance to run with us. Over the past couple of years the turnout has been lower and less predictable. We only have one USTS driver now who only races OSY and the other 2 who race it are having fun in their 125 and 250 rigs.
So we are adding 175H to 4 races in 2008 to give our guys a chance to grow the class. All the 175 drivers are regulars on the USTS and since 125 is a legal 175 for now, it should assure us a big field at the races they are scheduled to run. If 175 does not take off or produce then it will fall away also. Keep in mind 175 like OSY is not a USTS class, it is a special event and will only run 2 heats.

My favorite Pro class and by far the most exciting to watch. Those guys are like Wild E. Coyote being strapped on top of an Acme rocket!

I doubt that description would apply to C Service Runabout, even with a big splash of nitro.
Maybe more correct to say something like; "grown men acting silly".
They do smell good though,(the motors) and spectators enjoy the starting procedures more than the actual racing. The drivers antics trying to keep his feet out of the alky fire burning in the back of the boat is always fun to watch. When the blue flames on the transom are visible, and the carb takes fire too, it means the motor is about to start. Experienced drivers always threw a few buckets of water in the back of the boat prior to entering the water.
to keep the varnish from peeling, and his toes cool.
