    Get Better Soon Hunt!

I have known Hunt for a number of years through work and he is truly one of my favorite people I have ever met. Hunt is kind, smart, great sense of humor, passionate about all he does and has an amazing zest for life. I was startled to read about his incident this morning as I was doing some research and just wanted to share my thoughts and well wishes with he and his family during this difficult time. Hunt is a strong person and I am confident that he will come through this fine. Stay strong Hunt and I am praying for you and your family.

    All the best,

    Rick

          Hunt Leavitt update-Friday

I recevied this message from Hilary today via email:
          Jill,

Hunt’s jaw surgery is postponed til next week. More a scheduling problem than a medical problem. His condition is critical but stable
Gary Pond has called twice. Would you be able to let him know that I received the calls.

I met Hunt through McKeeCraft at a marine
conference a few years ago and found him to be a
very interesting person. I pray he has a speedy
              recovery.

                    Hunt Leavitt update

I had an opportunity to visit with Hilary and Sarah Leavitt yesterday to exchange everything that has been mailed to my house for them. Hunt's condition remains unchanged. I will post something when there is a change. Hilary is holding up amazingly well for what she is going through. She has asked me to let everyone know she is getting their phone calls and good wishes. However, due to time constraints and her cell phone minutes running out, she can not call everyone back as she would like until she can get her plan changed.
She thanks everyone for keeping her and Hunt in their prayers and asks that the prayers keep coming. Jill Glossner

I met Hunt formally Friday night at Millville after testing. At first, I didn't believe he was a racer. He was dressed so nicely in such a short time after the day was done, nice pair of slacks, sweater, and a collared shirt underneath, I thought no RACER could do that. Of course I was wrong, he is everything a racer should be, gracious, nice, and doing it for the the fun of it.

To the Leavitt family- God Bless all of you while you go through this difficult time, you are all in our prayers.

I just got some good news on Hunt Leavitt. Monday they took Hunt off the respirator and had him on oxygen. His daughter Sarah wrote, "he had his eyes open and was able to mutter a few garbled words even though his voice was raspy and horse from having the breathing tube for so long. But he did say several things. We were not able to understand everything which was frustrating for all of us but I think we got some things. The first thing that he said was “I want to go home” and then shortly after he said “Today!” Of course we had to tell him that that was not going to happen but he did seem to retain some memory of why he was there and he seemed to want to know what his injuries were and what would be required to get them fixed. Next he said, “I need to get on the computer” and we’re not quite sure what he was referring to in this regard, but it may have been related to the fact that we were telling him about hydroracer.net and all of the people that had written him messages online". Today they did xrays on his back and neck so Hilary's visit was shortened. The speech pathologist was in to see if Hunt could swallow correctly before starting soft foods. Unfortunately he failed and will stay on IV for foods. Hilary did see that there were a lot of teeth missing! Thursday Hunt is scheduled for jaw surgery. Hilary writes, "But thank you all for emails and good wishes coming our way. When I can I’ll let Hunt know there is lots of good energy coming his way from many friends and family". Keep the good wishes and prayers coming. It seems to be working!!!

I like to think all the prayers and positive energy is paying off from the racing community!!

I am so glad to hear that Hunt is making progress. I have been checking this site 2-3 times a day to get updates. Sometimes computers and the internet drive you crazy, but when you get an update that Hunt is doing better I am glad for the wonderful technology. When Hunt is up and going and ready to get his teeth fixed you need to come to Oklahoma. I know Oklahoma is out of the way, but I would be glad to get him back in shape for next to nothing as the saying goes. I don't have any numbers to contact the Hunt family, but seriously I would love to be able to help. I know it may not be convenient to come to Oklahoma, but if he is missing lots of teeth it could cost 5,000-10,000, etc. to get him fixed up. Please let me know if I could help out.
