Dear Friends,
On February 20, 2010 the Region IV Annual Spring Meeting and 2009 Awards Banquet will be held at the Marriott City Center in Newport News Virginia.
The day will begin at 8:30 AM with a Continental Breakfast and Member Sign-In. Meetings will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. There will be a 1-1/2 hour lunch break, at which time you will have your choice of dining in the hotel restaurant or one of the many different eateries that are a short walk from the hotel. The first meetings of the day will be the Category Meetings. After lunch, we will gather for the General Meeting and Board of Directors Meeting.
For those of you who will be in town for the banquet and are not interested in attending the meetings there are many local attractions. Here is the website for Oyster Point City Center were the hotel is located http://www.citycenteratoysterpoint.com/. There are many local shops, restaurants and attractions. Historic Williamsburg is a short drive, as is Yorktown and Jamestown.
The banquet will begin with a 6:00 PM with check in and cocktail hour. Dinner will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. The awards presentation and entertainment will follow until 10:00 PM. The entertainment again this year will be a slide show highlighting Region 4 races and our members.
The banquet committee has decided on a buffet this year that will offer you two entrée choices and an accompaniment of salads, side dishes and desserts. The cost of the dinner will be $40.00 per adult and $20 per child under 10 years of age. If the child is under 2 there is no charge. If you have any special dietary needs please let us know and the hotel will be glad to make any necessary alterations. Please make your reservations for dinner no later than February 1, 2010.
Accommodations at the Marriot City Center are $89.00 per night. We have blocked rooms for both Friday and Saturday nights. Please make sure to mention American Powerboat Association-Region 4 and make reservations no later than January 20, 2010. You can contact the Marriott at 1-757-873-9299 to make reservations. Only those mentioning APBA-Region 4 when making reservations will count to our totals. Start out going Southwest on Town Center Drive toward Fountain Way. Enter next roundabout and take 1st exit onto Thimble Shoals Blvd. Turn Left onto Jefferson Ave/VA-143 E. Follow Jefferson for 3.6 miles. Turn Right onto Main St./VA-152. From Main Street turn Left onto Warwick Blvd/US-60E. 1.1 Miles down on your right is the YMCA
