  • No Sharptown, MD race this year

There will be no race held at Sharptown, MD this year for a variety of reasons which include scheduling conflicts, lack of officials available for Sharptown, lack of attendance, and lack of funds.

THE SCHEDULING CONFLICTS ALONE WOULD ACCOUNT FOR THE LACK OF OFFICIALS, LACK OF ATTENDENCE AND THUS THE LACK OF FUNDS.

What a shame to not have it.

It is such a shame to not have another race in Maryland. I think somehow we need to draw together and get Denton and Sharptown back on the agenda or possibly turn Sharptown into another Camden at the end of the season and have a Pig Pickin or something of that nature to end the season.
Anyone else have any good ideas???

              Summer Millville

In response to Earl, how many would be interested in doing a summer Millville race? I'm thinking maybe July 19th & 20th. A final tune-up before the nationals. Also have plenty of room if people want to leave trailers before heading north to Whitney Point.

What happened to the Denton race? I noticed it was not being run anymore, but I never heard why the racing there had stopped.

We've lost a lot of waterfront access to "development" ... that and the general decline in interest/competition for attention for both spectators and new racers.

                      reguarding Denton

Last weekend we started moving my parents from Denton to over here in no mans land and i was told point blank the race could be put on again the town wants it but the days pf them paying for everything is over it would have to be like a leased club race where the club could make a few dollars but it would take alot of planning which i may start looking into getting races going again on the shore again once i get my parents fully moved.

                        Sharptown

I always enjoyed the Denton "Bullring" race (ran there back in 1966, my first full year) but Sharptown is the better race site and would make a great season finale.
