    Please!

I will be checking in often over the weekend hoping that someone has the time to post information here on Hydroracer. At least bring us the CSH Dash for Cash results ASAP! Monday will be a busy work day for me, but I'll still be checking. Monday is my favorite race day at Lock Haven...

        Testing report

From what I got - they were testing from 8 am and were still at it around 7 tonight. Good crowd of locals enjoying the boats, walking through the pits, thanking all the racers for coming. Was a decent turnout for testing and a steady stream of trailers were coming across the bridge as the sun was setting.

Jaycee Regatta opens in Lock Haven

            POSTED: August 29, 2008
"Jaycee Regatta opens in Lock Haven"

LOCK HAVEN - The high whine of watercraft engines being tested on the Susquehanna River could be heard throughout Lock Haven Friday, as boat racers took advantage of the early arrival to thoroughly check their machines for a weekend of intense competition.

It's the annual Lock Haven Area Jaycees Labor Day Regatta, an event that begins today and traditionally draws hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators to Lock Haven over the three days of activity.

The boaters will race three laps each at about three-quarters of a mile from just above the Veterans Bridge to just before the Tidlow Dam on Grant Street

The audience is expected to arrive early today at J. Doyle Corman Amphitheatre.

By noon you're likely to see a crowd of people watching intently as the racing continues to heat up. You'll also see a crowded midway and craft fair.

The booths and rides had already been situated on the midway. The few crafters who had not already done so were making last-minute adjustments to their display tents in Canal Park last evening.

While a light, barely detectable mist of rain permeated the Lockport Launch Friday afternoon, the precipitation didn't dampen spirits in that area. The boat dock parking area already appeared crowded with travel trailers, watercraft, tents and recreational vehicles, many of them sporting a logo indicating a family or team.

Racers have arrived from from Maine, Florida, Texas, New York and many other states. Ask them why they like Lock Haven as a venue for a regatta and you'll hear a central theme.

This race is a family reunion, grange fair, 4-H roundup and holiday celebration all rolled up into one event. The wives love the craft show, the kids love the carnival, the teens love the live music - and everybody loves the reunion.

Take a walk through the pit area and youre going to see as many spouses as the racers - and many more children.

"The people here are great," said Alex Poliakoff, who races as "The Mad Russian."

Poliakoff said the friendly atmosphere brought him 625 miles to this community, in spite of the gasoline prices. "I ran here last year for the first time, and I heard it was a nice site," he said. "This is also an old race ... It's been here for a long time."

"It's a good place to race ... better than some others I've seen," said John Mauck of Maryland.

"I'm 24 and I've been here 23 years of my life, so what's that tell you? It keeps me coming back,' said Shawn Breisacher of Mt. Holly, N.J. "The way the the town treats us is phenomenal. There's also the fact that it's nearly in the center of town. In many racing events, you're off the beaten path."

The fastest - and loudest - boats on the river Labor Day weekend will be the the Alcohol Pro Class 125 cc and 250 cc, the latter of which attain speeds of around 92 mph.

Other boats include several classes of modified and stock outboard boats, and J Class boats, which are specifically designed for younger riders.

Most of the riders are only too glad to answer questions from the curious, as long as they aren't busy preparing for a race or working on their boats.

The main highlight for the boaters at the Lock Haven event is the "Dash for Cash," which is scheduled for about noon Sunday. The race, pitting between 15 and 30 C-Stock Hydro boats against each other, carries with it a purse of between $1,000 and $2,500.

LOCK HAVEN - Friday was "set-up" day at the annual Lock Haven area Jaycees Boat Regatta, but you wouldn't know it by talking to the racers.

They were already feeling the excitement.

And if you closed your eyes and paid attention only to the sounds, you'd believe the races had already begun.

                Great Day

We ripped off 4 full sets today.........started around 10:30 and finished around 5:15...........Thanks to all the folks from DVORA for their hard work in getting all the classes in. That is one big factor in what makes a great race.
I know Dylan Runne won JH and Jr, Hunter Grimes won FEH, Lyons wins CSR and 25SSR, Jerry Davids won a NAC in 500ccR, George Luce won a NAC in DMR, AJ Jennings wins 20SSH, CSH went to Ian Augustine?(i think), tomorrow should be a great showing for the dash.........thats it off the top of my head

                    25ssH

From what I got, Dave Young won 25. Jeff Brewster had 2 2nd's but that dropped him to 3rd overall. Steve French was 2nd I believe. My guess is that Young & French must have each had a 1st & 3rd. Brewster ran his Pavlick but today is going back to the Altralite.
