From the depths of Town House Pond in Milton, NH, the lost Tohatsu has risen.
After unsuccessful attempts by two marine salvage divers, the trio of Alan Akerstrom, Alex Poliakoff and Steve Noury, meticulously dragged the bottom of the lake for six straight hours. Their efforts paid hugh dividends as Akerstrom hooked the big one in over 26 feet of water as darkness approached. Hooking the engine and landing it were two different stories. To pull it out of three feet of silt, Poliakoff used the winch on the SSOA rescue boat to bring the engine to the surface. Much to our surprise, the engine cowl, propeller, transom, and dashboard with steering wheel and hydraulic lines were all intact.
Upon reaching the far shore, homeowners were in disbelief that we actually landed the engine. One homeowner asked Alan if he could find a boat they had lost several years ago.
