                Schmidt takes the Clash

The South Shore Outboard All Star Clash was a great ending to another successful season in Region One. Twelve boats left the beach with the drop of the green and it was Mike Schmidt and Billy Allen off the beach first to turn one. As they came back to turn two they were still sponson to sponson. Schmidt finally pulled to the lead on lap three and never looked back. They were both running OSY400's and had an edge on the other contenters as Region One runs beach starts for that class at each event. Bill Giles, The Ancient Mariner of SSOA, ran third with a CSH rig. Boats were spread all around the course of the 5 lap event and there were mini races throughout.

The race included the top SSOA drivers in Club points from the OSY400, CSH, 20SSH and 25SSH classes. No doubt it will be run again next year so don't forget to send a 2011 membership in to SSOA!!!

This was 'another' great event! The course is just right. The water was great all weekend. Forget the GPS,,, bring yer ACCEL prop and don't plan on any great swooping turns. The spectators wander in from all over the place to watch. Each year we creep turn two closer in to the beach and the crowd gets wilder. We ate at Mr Nicks for breakfast and didn't need any Rolaids (both days) - decent prices too. Just a couple miles off the freeway, camping too. Nice little beach area, no back busting launch ramp. Great shot out of the pits for the LeMans start too. Friendly place.... Ms Kingston ("Bess"...what a sweetheart!!!.. and other scenery in keeping with global warming fun to watch.

                      Dust 33... all fogged-dupp!!

                      Good grief!!!
What "Dust" has gotten confused here is (A)... I was referring to eating breakfast at the restaurant next door called "Mr Nicks". Of course "Dust" never eats there cause he walks to school and brings his lunch. (B)..regarding "Nick NOWACK" who came streaking out of the pits driving Alan Ackerstromskis mk58H powered dreadnought (7b)....well... WE, ie the rest of us, were just trying to stay out of his way. AND...if we could just locate the missing 'starting line photo' WE would clearly show that WE did NOT jump!!! annnnd....NOWACK, was probably thinking that the dreadnought traveling at the speed-of-light, was back in East Bedford somewhere making his run for the clock.

So... just to clear up this obvious mess, nobody ate anybody. That only happens up in Ogunquit on Saturday afternoons (so I'm told).

A more accurate way to put it, Mad R., is that Mr. Nick ate you for breakfast , after, unlike many, the rook correctly read the clock then hanged on well to a hairy ride in earning his first DSH win in his first try, and at Can-Am KINGSTON no less! “I could’ve flipped it so easy in turn one….”, he said (WE KNOW MR NOWACK…..WE WERE THERE WATCHING, AND BACKING UP THE SHORELINE in a Quick HURRY!).

No doubt that Mad Russian and his junior have already said what's been written, but the translation is a little fuzzy in that Nick is either to be exterminated or congratulated at once.
