I hear ya there. I have been using Kevlar and some S Glass trying to get a panel close to the same stiffness and weight as carbon. Tough to do, but at least Kevlar is available and has not sky rocketed in price like carbon.

There is one supplier in Tawain that has full rolls in stock. I do believe he wants around $ 40 - 50 USD per yard for 6 oz twill weave, 50" wide. Being it is in a foreign country, I would be leery of ordering a roll. But if you are interested, let me know, I can give you the name of the company and contact info.
