  • Boat Racers in need of jobs..........

    Dan,
Why don't we start a thread for boat racers that have lost their jobs lately or may soon.
If they list here, where the live, what they do etc., perhaps another racer could hire them or hook them up with someone in their area. We all know we are good workers because we want to RACE!

      jobs

After the barrage of negative garbage leading to the election (agenda driven to get Obama elected) for the first time in my life and 30 years in the landscape industry, I was slow for 2 months and lead into no work for another 2 months. The media did a good job to achieve their dirty deed, but ultimately hurt a great many people more than they helped. The Lemmings followed, and, no one was buying. Nor will any of those evil rich people (you know, the ones we are supposed to share the wealth with) buy anything until they see one or two policies enacted...From that they will determine how to use their money. So, we need to see a policy or two, does not matter what, enacted to get bigger money flowing.

During this time, when many things that should have been talked about in the news were not, I turned off the radios, stopped reading papers...I networked 3-5 events a week, then the election was held, their boy won. So, the media sources started talking about better things....The lemmings followed along, and guess what? We now have plenty of work, and will glide through the first quarter into the second.

The news of the economy will soon be over shadowed by how well the new president is doing, weather he really is, or is not.

Moral of the story. Don't sit waiting for it, make it happen, because it will. Master your own destiny, I know, it sounds kind of woo woo, but it's true. So, if you are facing lay off, there will soon be something there for you, if you reach out for it.

So, in our prayers this evening, will be those for any of you who may not be, or are soon to be, not working and hope you are soon.

I decided we are going to have the best year we have ever had, and hell of high water we are going to get back to the real world in the mid west for a race or two.

              Mr. Wagner:

Sorry to hear about your lay off.

What is your training in and what can you do and where are you from?

It would help letting everyone know where, what and how we can be of assistance.

For example, snow happens....I got allot of buddies in the landscape industry based in the snow belt who need drivers, and mechanics.

All it takes is a call.

Up here you can be self employed and chase the work ,chase the guys, chase the insurance and then chase the money when you get done and and try like hell not to take a bad attatude home with you. Or you can work for some jackass who has no Idea what work is, who will take credit for your hard work and never pass up a chance to treat you like an a**hole. I've been in my line of work for 20+years it's gone father to son in my family for 5 generations. between the platform lifts, lasers , trucks and custom tools I have an investment of over 100 thousand dollars....and no work, cant find a job. What really pisses me off is that I know I did everything right...nothing I did ever fell down, or failed prematurely. I'm not working because of what someone elts did. It makes me want to tear someone to pieces.

My father told me once "Ive never been fired...I"ve been layed off wyle they were hiring...But I've never been fired"..I always got a kick out of that.

Ain't that truth Sonny! Employees, and God bless them, simply have no clue and, have morphed into Lemmings for the most part. Amazing how few even have a clue that an employer has to match their FICA deduction before they send it off....It ain't an employers issue if an employee cannot be disciplined enough to send in THEIR part of the taxes, but, as we all know, government does things better, right? LOL

I've had issues like yours myself, and, every time, I have had enough confidence in myself to know how somewhere some how, to get the money I owe paid back (if even eventually) without relying on a bail (hand) out.

For those here facing or have been laid off, what can we, this network of people here, do to help your situation? Do you have skills, and if so, what are they?

I personally have a pretty big network of trade related sources nation wide, and you never know if and or when they would be looking to hire even for temporary cash basis.

So, tell us what we can do to help, or at least what you are trained in. At the very least, brain farts could be generated to create work for you.

                        One More Item

Job seekers -- add one more item when posting your info on this thread. Are you willing to relocate if you have to? The company I work for is hiring a software developer at a branch located in Northern Virginia. Telecommuting is not a possibility. You have to have the necessary skills AND be willing to relocate to the area.

I really appreciate you guys and your willingness to help but we will be fine. Things will pick up like they always do. I'm just blowing off a little steam. It can be very frusterating. I am a commercial building specialist(with my own buisness), and a master carpenter with the local 85. Bottom line is there no free lunch no matter what you do if it is profitable you can count on doing something or dealing with someone unpleasant. It's a dog eat dog world and were all wearing milkbone underpants. Prime example: Every year I have to run faster scared than the IRS can run angry. Thats a lot of fun.

                            Time to Revive This Thread.

Just took a bit hit at work today, 15% pay cut ,and a 35hr week and lost 60 hrs of vacation time. I think it will be worst next month, So I better start networking now, I am a 59 year old with 43 years in the Printing Industry willing to relocate most anywhere,
