  • Seems to me like we set the initial to the trailing edge of the 11 tooth. 14 does not sound right unless they have changed. Set the first dial on the low side to make starting easy. On the E I set the timing at 30degrees at 5000 rpm and then dialed in a retard of anywhere of 4 to 10 degrees. I would go conservative the first time out. I used 12 ga. wire. I also would use a conector to the battery that can be only hooked one way. Make a mistake there and you have a large repair bill. Been there done that! Also recomend that you use electric starter. Can be hard to start hand cranking if you don`t have someone that can really turn it over. Ithink it takes 400 rpm to make it spark. We don`t have a cranking plate on our engines.
