  • I asked a variation of that question more than once.
    I was informed:
    1) that many parents do not want their young children to jump from J. To running with us nuts in A
    combine that with the others that say:
    "we needed a new A motor and the SORC wanted to slow down the A class. so they asked Merc to to produce a new A motor that was slower than the OMC. The drivers/teams refused to get onboard with the plan and buy new mercs. So they made a new class under the J cat. for a "transitional class ASX" to bridge from J to A.
    Heck I sure do not know which of these reasons given are the real one. Or even if either is the real one. But if I had to BET I would say that AXS is because of BOTH reasons.
    PS a few dads told me there was no way they would of let their kid jump from J to A. without some maturing in between.
