  • Throttle disc for OMC 25mod

I needed a couple more, so I sent one to Brown Tool & Machine and he made new ones that fit well. He told me he made some extras and filed the spec, so if anyone else needs one, contact BTM. (Link is at bottom right corner of home page.)

    Mike T

PS He also made adapter bushings to mount the OMC CD2 stator on the 25mod. Switching from the Phelon mag to the CD2 is easy, the bushing is all you need.

Are you speaking of a full butterfly? I have been planning to file one, but buying one would be alot easier.

      Yes, a full butterfly

This is a full butterfly. I have one 25mod OMC right now, and the disc was one someone else had hand made. It works but is actually too small, it actually turns thru in the throat.

I am setting up a second complete powehead so I need another disc and I wanted it to fit right. So I sent Allan a stock OMC disc with the idle cut-outs and he made a full disc version. I got 3 from him and they fit better than the one I had inherited in my first powerhead.

He told me he had made a couple extra and that he could always make more now.

        OMC throttle disk

I just silver-soldered the stock disk slots to make a solid disk out of it. Didn't take long and it works good.

Silver solder or braze is OK

But don't do that with lead solder. It is to soft and if it comes loose the results may be dangerous.

            Racin' Stuff

            Hello Mike,
            Happy New Year!
Looking forward to racing season all ready. Putting together a B-1 Mod OMC and wondered if you have any ideas on a throttle cable hook up. It looks quite easy but if there are some out there that someone has had good luck with it might be the easier way to go.
            Regards, Dick Duncan 39P

Richard Give Rick Morris a call at 405-672-2251.
Rick sold his law firm so he is home usually.
He has a very simple design.
              Same set-up Doc Miller uses.
This is the set-up I use on my 25MOD/A-MOD OMC.
              Will post pick ASAP.

19P 10F degees in Erie , Pa. this morn!

I'll get in touch with BTM about some full butterflies for my Tohatsu. Perhaps he will be able to make some for me.
I've used soldered ones in the past on other motors, but I'd prefer solid ones instead. One less thing to worry about.

                Thanks for the info.

                  Richard,
                  Talked to Rick today.
He said you called. I can send you one of my spray shield/throttle hook-ups and my OMC-to Merc tower adapter plate that Rick built me. He said you have a shop to copy/produce the adapter plates. Keep the shield-I have more avail @ $50 each.
                  Here's the deal;
Have your laser shop scan/trace/copy my powerhead adapter.
Then send original adapter back ASAP so I can be ready for Pineville if I go or send my A-MOD.
Then, when you get going on the copies, send me 2-3 blanks that I will forward for Rick to machine.
Will have my laser shop copy one of the blanks also when they get here.
Get me a price/qoute on producing your adapters when yours are finished machined.

Rick doesn't want to get too deep into this....."Got Bar-B-Q sauce to make!"....

Good luck with your 25Mod and hope to see ya OUT-THERE---IN MY WAKE!

Also I could use someone else to run with in A-MOD, George Stillwell and I get kinda lonely out there........

                  post/e-mail address/phone number.

                      Adapter plate

                      Steve,
I will see about the automatic cutting as soon as I get back from Costa Rica. The plate I am working on will have an internal journal to take the Mercury rear water source up the the OMC inlet. The outlet flow volume will be controlled by an adjustable orifice to manage water temperature.

I have a spare adapter plate for an OMC 25 to a Hot Rod tower. It was sold to me as an adapter for a Merc (A-B-20H) tower, but didn't fit (back two bolts were not right). I therefore assume it was for a Hot Rod. So I fabbed a Merc adapter plate the hard way.

If anyone is interested in this adapter, let me know. You should provide me with a Hot Rod bolt template so we can check it before I ship. The studs have been removed so the ones in the photo are not included.

Richard, Any luck on adapter plate.
Talked to Morris. Said one reason he routes water through head first is for keeping heat out of head with the high advance we run. Just a thought.
Cog arrived-Thank you. Not going to Pineville but will be testing as soon as weather permits. Hope my adapter helps your design. Have had some interest so let me know when yours ready/avail.
