  • MHRA 2016 Awards Banquet is March 18th!

The Michigan Hydroplane Racing Association Spring Banquet is fast approaching and wanted to make sure everyone was aware! The banquet will be held at the University Quality Inn in Lansing, Michigan on March 18, 2017. The address is 3121 E. Grand River Avenue, Lansing MI 48912

Club meeting to start at approximately 12:30 p.m. and run until approximately 4:30 p.m. (Bartender on site at 2:00 p.m. – cash bar.) Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. with the awards following after dinner. The hotel is holding a block of rooms until February 25, 2017. The rate is $89 a night so if you want a room, please call 517-351-1440 to make your reservation ASAP. Please state Michigan Hydroplane when making your reservation. There is no elevator in this hotel so if you want a first floor, please specify “first floor” when making your reservation. As we are located very close to Michigan State University there is a chance that the hotel will fill up quick as there are high school basketball finals being held that weekend at Breslin Center. Anyone staying at the hotel also has a full breakfast available in the morning, no charge!

If planning on attending the banquet, please email, text, call or Facebook Karen Duffield with the number of attendees. The banquet cost is $20 per person and that includes sliced beef in au jus, marinated chicken breast, redskin potatoes, corn, rolls & butter. I will be providing the desserts! Please don’t assume that Karen knows you are coming, please touch base with her!

For anyone who is interested, the hotel is next door to Spare Time Bowling. So if you want to hang around and go bowling, lazer tag, bumper cars and other activities after the banquet, literally just a short walk across the parking lot.

Hope to see you all at the banquet!

When it comes to boat racing and the wife, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission, and of course I spent a number of nights sleeping on the couch!
