  • Notes From FSPA Meeting - Bitterfeld

Christian Langer and James Aderholdt called a meeting on Saturday morning. The weather was bad so there was no activity on the water and was therefore an ideal opportunity.

Meeting was advised that HWG will put forward that F125, F250, F350 and F500 should run together at Festival Events from 2010, Christian wanted the Drivers to confirm this is what they want before we move forward with this.

It was suggested that F250 and F350 should be run on different days.

The race format is very important.

A standard timetable should be set for all events.

Suggested F125/F250/F350 should run three heats all to count the same as F500.

It was felt that HWG with Drivers Representatives and UIM Sports Commission members was needed as a link to put input to the UIM.

HWG should be link to UIM.
FSPA should arrange sponsorship, race timetable, TV, Press etc.

There was a discussion whether meetings should be 2 or 3 days. Some drivers felt they should be 2 days only as racing is only a hobby for the drivers and they have to work.

Suggested practice time at race meeting should be split into half hour sessions.

All venues should have correct facilities available 24 hours a day including toilets, showers, water and electric for those staying on site. FSPA should set a list of minimum requirements.

There needs to be a core of drivers that commit to the series and all of these drivers should receive the same travel money (more than now to reduce the cost for the drivers to a minimum, therefore the drivers are committed to start at every series race), other drivers would not receive travel money. It was suggested that half of travel money should be paid at the event and the other half at the end of the season if the driver had attended all of the events.

A fixed list of requirements needs to be set out for the 2009 season and discussions need to start with possible sponsors.

It was suggested that the drivers were spoken to in small groups as it would be easier to discuss due to the different languages spoken.

There was a suggestion that F350 should be dropped (only run one off World and European Championship) and 10kg added to the driver weight in F250 to make heavier drivers more competitive. This would bring us more in line with other sports that run 125/250/500.

There is a package that has been drawn up and distributed to a restricted number of people, this will be updated and a full meeting of the FSPA will be held at the Brandenburg meeting where this package will be unveiled.
