  • ROUND SIX OF USTS AND NBRA NATIONALS AT CLARKSVILLE, AR

The first day of round 6 of the USTS and the NBRA Nationals began today under cloudy, but welcome cooler temps from the first two days of testing. We can’t say enough for our sponsors and the Mayor of Clarksville, Ar for the welcome they have given us this week. To the Mayor, Darrell, Deanna, and Julie, our big big thanks for a job well done. We have been welcomed without fail every where we go and we say thank you to you and your team Darrell.

We started off today with K-Pro on the schedule as far as USTS went and Chase McKean set the speed record on the one mile surveyed course of 41.17 MPH during heat number two. He and Brandon Payn traded heats and Brandon took the final for the win. He promptly took a bath, as this was Brandon’s first win and the tradition is you are going for a bath, and Poppa Brian was only to happy to oblige getting the tradition done. Way to go you two young men. A special thanks to a couple of other folks, as Pete and Jared Gryskiewicz brought Hudson’s number 55 with them and Mathew Larimore was at the wheel to give the boys a run. Thanks Pete, Jared, and Mathew.

This was the only Title Series class run today as we will run our regular schedule over the weekend, including the finish to the 2019 National’s for 250H, 350R, and 1100H.

In the NBRA classes run today in A Runabout, your winner was Russ Sitton with Matew Larimore finishing 2nd, as Rhett Hebert went over as the outside chine dipped and blew him over sideways, fortunately he was uninjured, but that cannot be said for the boat as it was busted up pretty bad. Congrats to Russ.

In C Runabout, Tara Cook took the win, however if you were to judge Russ Sitton on his entertainment value in this race, he was off the charts. The audience, drivers, and crews were oooohing and ahhhhhhhing the whole race as Russ virtually stood it up perpendicular more than once as he chased Tara the whole way. It was entertaining, but heart stopping a number of times.

In E Runabout, John Mathews driving the Alan Owens V-25 took the E Runabout class winning the first heat and second in the second heat to Brian Palmquist. Brian had seemingly finished 2nd in the first heat and this could of set up a look at the timers for the win, however Brain had been DQ in the first heat of racing as he absolutely was on a mission having started way back, but had worked his way to second, only to find no points at the end of the rainbow.

In the 25 Mod Hydro, Can you say that Austin Van Over picked up where he left off after Constantine and DePue, why yes you can, as he was out front in both heats and was never really headed. Courtney Thayer doing a tremendous job of holding off the wolves at the door for 2nd with Brett Simmons coming in the 3rd spot for the first heat. In the second heat, Austin once again took off through the field as he driving the Cliff Johnson entry, started in the back of the pack, but by the first turn, had passed most everyone and got the last two coming out of the turn for the over all win in both heats. Brett Simmons having a great run finished in the 2nd spot with Courtney picking up the podium finish in 3rd.

We had a great day of racing and we look forward to seeing the other classes the next two days of racing. See you tomorrow.

    Ray
