  • US TITLE SERIES SUNDAY RESULTS AT CONSTANTINE

Sunday at Constantine was a mixed bag of weather and a couple of incidents on the water, with the most serious of them with Ashlea Wilson in 125H climbing to the moon on the backstretch as she went up and over. Somewhere along the way her left arm took a blow and was transferred to the local hospital. We wish you God Speed to healing Ashlea. Ashlea was in the 3rd spot when she went over and was doing really well.
Sunday turned cloudy and a lot cooler, but eventually the rain over took the last heat of the day with Thunder and Lightening on the course as the big 500R were ready for their last heat of the day.

K-Pro started our day with Cooper Thompson taking the first heat to Brandon Payn chasing him once again across the finish line. Cooper then finished second to Brandon in the 4th heat to secure the overall win which makes the 4th race this year, all of them by the way, that he has taken home the top spot. Congrats Cooper. Brandon did everything he could to get by Coop, but Coop was driving a pro category race each time. Garret Johnson joined the fray from NY and did well with the 3rd place finish.

Next up were the 1100H with Dan Kirts getting ready to celebrate a birthday, treated himself to an overall win, having won a heat on Saturday, splitting the day with Eric Van Over in the Thirlby Automotive boat and then taking the two heats on Sunday for the overall win. Scary ride for Eric as in the bottom corner entry pin, he spun that big Pugh Hydro and water splashing everywhere, but fortunately Eric and boat are ok. Jake Hoffert showing great speed, but more impressive to me, he hit all three starts right on the money and was able to parlay those into a second place finish overall.

Next up were the 350H with Kurtis Nydahl saying how do you do to the rest of the field as he took 3 straight heats in convincing fashion, over his Dad Pete Nydahl and James Aderholdt finished for 3rd. Kurtis worked his way from the back in two of the three heats, but his driving and speed were able to see him through. What a great 350H Nationals is going to be had next week at DePue. Add in Eric Schmidt and Zach LaRose and what a race that will be.

250R was up next with Brian Payn, driving the B&B Electric entry took the first two heat with Mike Krier trying to chase him down to no avail, but Mike was not going to be denied as he put his stamp on the 3rd heat as he got out front and no one was going to catch him. Paulie Bosnich with engine trouble in the first heat, but finishing, got it together for the 2nd and 3rd heats and finished on the podium.

125H was all about Brad Dygert as he finished out front in two heats and in the third Pete Kelly who was chasing him from the get go took it. But Brad had the points to win it all. Kristi Ellison driving a steady race in all three heats finished in the 3rd spot. As I started the story on the news of Ashlea Wilson’s blow over, the news is a broken wrist, a sore collarbone, and knee. Get well quickly Ashlea.

Next up were the 500R with Jason Sailer taking both heats that we were able to run due to the storm front that moved in. Andy Kirts is showing more and more to be a force to be reckoned with in this class and finished 2nd on the podium. Ray Bradford showed that he getting more and more used to driving that laydown runabout and finished on the podium as well. Outstanding job in 500R and excited to see the nationals coming up next week.

Again the thanks go to our volunteers, our leader Todd Brinkman and Sue Sailer our chief scorer, Big Pal, Paul Bosnich was everywhere man, and my thanks to Preston Thirlby and Rick Jedwabny.
