Well with a truncated schedule from Winona, we await the posting of the points to get a more clear picture of the Title Series season long championship run. Most races are very tight.
Amy Nydahl will hold a slight lead on BJ Tetro for the top spot in 250H after BJ won at Winona with Amy finishing second to BJ. This one will come down to the final race I am sure. JJ Walls took a lead over David Jones as David was unable to be with us at Winona in the 125R class and has opened up a 325 point lead on David. But, knowing the 10E driver, he will give a tussle to the end. Brianna Payn with her second place finish has added to her lead over Lyndsay McGrath and will be looking forward to defending her U.S Title Series Nationals. Tim Small did nothing but add to his good lead in the 250R with some of his competitors suffering major disappointments in Winona. Ike Yoder continues to protect is slight lead in the 350H category and will be in the fight all season long.
Many other fights for championships are close and as we prepare for Constantine, the USTS Pro Nationals, and our season ending race in Johnson City, Tn. the influx of drivers will continue with a good number of entries at Constantine and of course at Depue.
Speaking of Depue, I am informed that the DNR is getting ready to put the dam up at Lake Depue and eventually we will se a permanent dam there to ensure our long time sponsor, The Depue Men's Club will be able to host the Nationals for years to come. It sounds like there is lots of water in the Lake right now with the water up to the restrooms at the West end, so they should be able to capture plenty of water. I see that Peru, Illinois cancelled the fireworks show for the 4th on the banks of the Illinois River because of high water as well. Seems like feast or famine with the water issues, but with the dam, we should be in good shape at Depue. We are grateful to the Men's Club, the leadership of the Mayor, Eric Bryant, and the great supporters of boat racing the city of Depue for their efforts in our behalf. There are not better versed racing fans or enthused fans, then the people of Depue and the Illinois Valley area.
The rest of the season sounds exciting with great work by Tim Small and the folks at Johnson City as they plan for our race later this year in Sept. Sounds like from what I heard at Winona things are progressing quite nicely and many thanks to those putting this one together. They expect big crowds as we head off to the Tri City area, dominated by the Thunder Valley and Bristol Speedway, as the USTS will only add to the motorsports haven there.
