Labor Day weekend is fast approaching. We are hoping for a LARGE turn out of boats this year! After all this is the best DAM OPC race this side of the Kankakee River! So get your plans set and attend this GREAT event..

Race Schedule

Would you (Kankakee) ever consider condensing the race to 3 days instead of 4? Stretching the race over 4 days is tough on the drivers and crews; more resources being wasted, days off work, etc. I know that the SST 45s don't even race on Sunday and its a day wasted for us. I want to use my holiday driving home and getting back to work.

Just a thought for next year.

I really think that they could do it in 2 days. Monday we ran 4 heats. Just a thought.....

California Teachers Work the Monday

When I was teaching I never considered racing at Kankakee because California teacher's start the day after Labor Day and it is a pisser to miss the first day.

If Monday was a travel day, a man could make it back to California via air travel and then work on Tuesday!

There was no testing Saturday this year. We started racing at @10:15 and didn't get done until almost 6. Sunday and Monday had minimal testing.

It Takes almost 6 hours to get all the boats Safety Inspected on Friday

Remember Friday is an optional day for all racers.

Many of us can only test at races.

By comparison The stock nationals are run over 6 days. Many times some qualify on the first day and then sit until Friday or Saturday for the finals.

That's why we don't race stock ....nobody pays us either so the resources are limited as well as time not working. I know putting a race is a logistic headache but if there is something we could do that would be awesome. Maybe split the classes in two groups....one group would race saturday and sunday and the other group race sunday and monday.....for example if there were 4 classes total (Sport C, SST 45, SST 120, F1) the Sport C and SST 120 could race saturday and sunday and the SST 45 and F1 could race Sunday and Monday; somewhat staggering the classes.
