  • New Driver School

The Oklahoma Boat Racing Association, an NBRA affiliate, is conducting the first of possibly three new driver schools May 14, on Boomer Lake in Stillwater, Okla.

Other schools under consideration by OBRA members are for the NBRA race in Centralia, Ill., August 13-14, and at the NBRA Nationals in McAlester, Okla., Sept. 8-11.

Leonard Miller and Mark Monkres have been instrumental in organizing the school for Stillwater, and began with names collected at the Tulsa Boat & Travel Show during a snow week in January. Now, with follow up phone calls, interest remains and OBRA will be promoting the school locally to boost numbers on the shore at Boomer Lake.

The event is fully insured and will be staffed by an ambulance and EMT team, and will provide the required safety equipment to those learning to drive.

Initial tuition is $30 for safety school, boat orientation, discussion of how we race, and three laps. Additional sets of laps can be purchased for $20 depending upon available time and equipment.

For more information on the school, contact Mark Monkres, 918 344-7670.
