John, your motor and craftmanship are excellent. I hope it runs as good as it looks. Make sure and look over your tower for cracks after each run. We had ours like that and we broke 2 towers, after we put the powerhead back on like they normally are we had no issues. I know your welding skills are good, and so are ours, but it doesn't take a second to look. I don't want you guys to have a wreck. Actually our powerhead broke plum off the tower, losing the lower unit and prop. I was going full throttle testing, when I turned around and looked after I stopped, the powerhead was gone hanging by the cables in the water.

Thanks for the heads up Kevin, we will check it over after testing, were your towers steel or aluminum? ours are steel.

To follow up on what Kevin is saying about the towers cracking. The welds didn't break but the pipe just below the weld. We have and are still running these towers for years without any problems. The tubing was DOM tubing and not just water pipe. There was something about the harmonic with the motor sideways that set up a vibration. We built another tower with more support on the sides but it still cracked. A old Hot Rod racer (Roger Dykehouse) told me they tried a Hot Rod sideways with the pipes straight out the back and he said that it about shook all the bolts loose before they could get back to shore. I will be interested in how you project goes.

            Good Luck

Well the first time out was not too good, my brothers made some modifications to it and its back to the test tank.
                  Should run well now.

another feature i see that i really like is the set back on the engine mount!

i just hope when you finnaly get it tuned and running 85 orso that it will not give you prblems ! that is when you find out if it all holds together!

how much for a set of your velocity stacks to go on the carbs ??
                    i would buy a set!

                              Lower unit

If your going to run the 302 Yamato lower unit it needs
to be profiled for better handleing as i see it.
