Chip Hanauer and Bill Muncey were the first inductees into the Kent Washington Hydroplane Museum's Hall of Fame on April 13, 2009. The family of the late Bill Muncey and Chip Hanauer and his family were on hand to receive the prestigious awards.

Chip Hanauer started his racing career with SOA as a young man before moving up through the ranks to become an Unlimited Hydroplane driver.

Bill Muncey is Unlimited Hydroplane Racing's all-time winningest driver he has 62 victories, including eight Gold Cups and Seven national championships to his name. Bill Muncey was Chip Hanauer's mentor and Chip retired with 61 careers wins rather than break the record of his mentor. Hanauer's victories include 11 Gold Cups and eight national championships.
