• Mercury Racing Returns as Official Engine Sponsor
FOND DU LAC, Wis., — Mercury Racing is pleased to announce its return as the official engine sponsor for the 2007 ChampBoat Grand Prix Series. The series, which features Mercury powered Champ and Champ2 (SST 120) class outboard tunnel boat racing, consists of qualifying heat races and single-lap time trials to determine starting positions for the main events. Champ2 races feature 30-lap main events, while the Champ final race is 50 laps. Mercury Racing has supported the series since its inaugural 2002 season.
“Mercury Racing has been an active supporter of the ChampBoat Series since the series’ inception in 2002,” said Rick Mackie, senior marketing manager at Mercury Racing. “There’s nothing more exciting than 20 Champ-class boats blasting off the start dock, reaching speeds up to 130 mph and pulling 4.5 ‘Gs’ as they slam into and out of turns!”
“The Champ Boat Series has delivered an incredible value to Mercury Racing over the past four years,” added Mackie. “We are excited to be the official engine of the series, and look forward to another action-packed year of Champ and Champ2 (SST-120) class tunnel boat racing.”
“We are proud to have Mercury Racing back as the Official Engine Sponsor and look forward to working with the team for another great season,” said ChampBoat Series Executive Director Mike Schriefer.
