Because we are non-profit, we must meet certain guidelines to sustain that status. Last year AOF asked for suggestions for our yearly benefit programs. Thanks to the suggestion from Kristi Ellison, AOF chose to make the military soldiers and their families our main charity events.
I am proud to say that with the co-sponsors of both Quaker Oats and General Mills Cereal Divisions, we were able to send countless boxes of goodies to soldiers oversees in Iraq. Some went to other organizations like the VFW who made sure that the families of soldiers could share in this wealth.
Our racers also contributed both items for our care boxes as well as a large amount of money.
In years past we have taken as our pet projects: Katrina Victims, The Tsunami Victims, Kiwanis, The Humane Societies, Big Brother/Big Sister Programs, The Red Cross, the DARE program, Make A Wish Foundation, The Children's Hospitals of America, and so many more.
It appears that the DARE program is a top candidate this year as well as other local area charities where the races are held.
Super work AOF members. You whould be proud that your hobby can give so much back to the communities and the country in which we race.
