Thanks for the posting of the thread. We at the Lock Haven Area Jaycees have been gearing up all year (again) for the Regatta and look forward to seeing everyone this Labor Day Weekend

Do you have a list of motels in your area? From the list I got on the
chamber of commerce web site they are all booked up.How far is State
College from Lock Haven? Any help would help all drivers and familys.

The Best Western in Lock Haven is booked solid. There are a couple of other Best Westerns about 20 to 30 miles away. Try Best Western web site.
!"Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain."
During our first trip to Lock Haven in 2004 Austin and I stayed at the Comfort Inn at Lamar, PA. It's about a 20-25 minute drive south of Lock Haven. It's a pleasant trip that takes you by a Super Wal Mart, an all-you-can-eat Chinese Buffet, and then into farm country.
The website show rooms available for Labor Day weekend.
You probably want to look the other direction from State College ... that is probably the reason Lock Haven is already solid. Penn State starts their football season with a home game at State College each fall ... Labor Day weekend
Sorry for the late response... I haven't checked out the Web site for several days.
Anyway, yeah Penn State kind of puts the screws to us every year by having their season-opening game at home that weekend for the last several years.
Many of the Penn State fans come to Lock Haven for lodging that weekend. So, the best bet is to go east toward Williamsport (which is about 35 minutes away).
The listing on the Economic Partnership's Web site is just of members of the Partnership. Just talked to people over there and they indicate there is not a Web listing of ALL the hotels and such around the area.
There are several bed and breakfasts in and around Lock Haven. As a matter of fact one right near the course is hoping to be open for Labor Day weekend. I just called to get more info on that.
Listing of the B&Bs in the phone bookall 570 area code)

Gibson Hotel: 753-8625 (about 20 minutes away)
Little Plum Inn: 769-7900 (about 10 minutes away)
Partnership House B&B (my fav): 748-1990
Victorian Inn B&B: 748-8688
Hotels:
Best Western: 748-3297 or 1-800-528-1234
Hotel Manor: 753-8414 (about 20 minutes away)
Lindsey Place Suites (right at the site): 748-1109
Pine Creek Valley Lodge: 753-3254 (about 20 minutes away)
Also, there is a Comfort Inn (probably booked) in Lamar, and a nearby Hampton Inn (although won't be done until October)
We have a Lowe's going up as we speak, and the 200 construction workers are also staying at nearby lodging places to put a further damper on the hotel space available.
Remember, we also have camping facilities near the race site if so inclined.
Just got off the phone with the owner of the new B&B in town. They will be open this weekend, and have openings for Labor Day weekend.
Rates are: $85/night for the smaller room and $95 a night for the larger room.
For more info: www.theavenuebandb.com, or call Sue Stover at (570) 660-6102.

P.S.: Light poles went up this past weekend and we took care of all the weeds along the banks by the boat launch.
This weekend, stringing electrical wires.
Laurie, you are way too worried about testing at Lock Haven, I need you in the right frame of mind to handle any legal issues that might come up for my crew that weekend. Come on, get that legal brain working girl.

Stock Outboard is all about a level playing field.
Friday at Lock Haven is the same as always!! NO changes, other than registration will only stay open if I have someone in line to register.
I'm going to open up around 2pm --- will close when ????? ever.....
Just a couple reminder's...
Fire co will be selling breakfast and lunch just above registration Sat., Sun. & Mon. The stands out on the street pit side do a bbq chicken etc... dinner that always smells great!
The carnival and the bands will be going on as we race all three days also. This is in walking distance from our pit's. (just back over the bridge) The grandstands make a great place to watch the races while you listen to the music and eat lots of great food !!!!
Look for the JayCee's stand to get your Lock Haven T-shirt they are usually located in the middle of the carnival. The last couple of years you got to choose the color of your t-shirt or sweatshirt and they ironed on the decal as you waited.
Also the JayCee's will have fireworks and a band on the water Monday night after were done racing.
