US Title Series Heads Into Speed Week 2005

The US Title Series will conduct its third race of the 2005 season at Constantine, MI July 22-24th. Constantine is just as good a race course for PRO racing as you will find anywhere in the country and the US Title Series races never disappoint at this venue. The fantastic course on the St. Joseph River is protected from traffic and requires drivers to focus on set-up. Turn one is a little tight and tends to bunch-up the field at the start. Turn two is a sweeping turn where drivers can keep their RPM’s high. The straights are long enough to allow for good top-end, but run too big a prop and you may “bog down” in that tight turn one. The normally dry air also makes “carb” tuning very important, as engines will tend to run lean.

We expect close to one hundred boats again this year, as teams from across the country prepare for the PRO Nationals held the following weekend in DePue, Illinois. With the season high point chase completely jumbled after races at Omaha and DePue, drivers will be pushing hard to get-back-into-the-hunt or to stretch their thin margins over their competitors. Once again, look for large fields in 125 hydro, 250 hydro, 250 runabout and 350 runabout with elimination heats likely required to bring the fields down to a safe number.

Friday will be a test day beginning around 10AM and lasting until 6 PM. There will be designated testing time for K Pro’s. Remember, every driver that wishes to test on Friday must first register for the weekend. Capsule drivers must have their dunk test certifications prior to entering the race course.

There will be a short period of testing Saturday and Sunday before the races begin. Racing action should start around noon each day. OSY400 has been added to the schedule for Sunday, so hopefully we will draw some local Michigan drivers for this class. The mighty 1100cc runabouts will also be raced on Sunday. This class is always a crowd favorite and hopefully we will draw some boats from the West Coast. Rumor has it, that this class is also beginning grow in Region 7 again.

If you are planning on attending this race, you had better reserve a room now!! With a large number of teams in attendance, available rooms are disappearing quickly. The US Title Series will have a dinner Saturday night. To not forget the great breakfast each morning at the VFW!! Best deal in town, served by the most wonderful people you will find.
