The Bass Machines bolt-on transom bracket incorporates a fine adjustment for kick-out and engine height. The engine may be purchased for the base price without a transom mounting system and the purchaser may use one of several brackets that use a 1-inch swivel pin. For example, the MK 55H bracket can be used. Other systems can be modified and used by the purchaser. We recommend the Bass Machines variable adjustment bolt-on system be used for reasons of fine adjustment and operator safety.
Welding the crankshaft is a recommendation of Tohatsu America based on their experience racing this engine on rubber boats. However, with the use of a racing lower unit and the resulting smaller propeller some have questioned if welding is necessary. If the purchaser wishes to partially disassemble the engine and weld the crankshaft, basic written instructions will be provided.
