Stock/Mod/Pro Swap Meet update #3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gents,
There seems to be a great deal of racer interest in what is "for sale" about this time of the year. Just to remind you that the Zanesville Stock/Mod/Pro Outboard Racing Swap Meet will be held on 2-3 April. This not-for-profit event is just for racers......rookies and oldtimers. This is gonna' be the place where you can get your hands on what is being sold. You can talk to the builders, motorheads, and racers in person. You can sell to anyone who comes to the swap meet but if it is important to sell to a racer then you can ask to see his racing licence.
We have a large number of private sellers of boats and motors who have already reserved space to peddle their equipment. To date I know of about 6 boats and about 18 motors. There are likely others. Invitations have gone out to about 16 of the boat builders east of the Mississippi. Some are beginning to respond. I hope many more will respond soon. We have at least one seminar/workshop scheduled. Steve Roskowski of the Indiana Outboard Association will demonstrate "vacuum bagging" and will talk about Epoxy lay-ups. He hopes to build a shroud, spray shield or perhaps a wood-epoxy marathon tank as a demo project at the IOA club gateway at the swap meet. Steve is a gifted craftsman and engineer. It will be an opportunity to learn from the best.
I have invited Ron Selewach/Dean Sutherland of the "new" American Hot Rod to display an engine and answer questions. Dean has comitted to participating. Likewise, we are waiting to hear from Dave Scott and hope he'll bring his Merc 44XS engine, gear sets and perhaps a boat kit or two.
This event is by boat racers, for boat racers. It will work with your support. Get your trailer dusted off and dig through your parts bin. There will be new racers here that are buyers.
Call me for complimentary club spaces or to reserve your $25 team space. Let's help grow our sport by making it easier for new racers to find the boats, motors, safety equipment, and hardware that they need to start racing this season. Thanks to Dan at www.hydroracer.net for the bandwidth . Mike Marshall, Raceboat61-S, 740-754-2097 or cell 740-319-5040 or MCarolMike@aol.com
