I "heard" K&K made some surprise visits to races last year and there were people in the hot pits who didn't have wrist bands on and/or didn't sign the waiver.

      Am I right?

If this is correct, then the racers/race officials did this to themselves by not controlling the people allowed to be in the hot pits without the proper release and wrist band. In my opinion race official or not, each and every racer/team member should help the officials police this issue at any event.

Crock of BS or not, they are holding the cards. And somewhere somehow we as (racers and officials) didn't play by the rules (if my post above is correct). So there is no one to blame except for racers/officials themselves. I'm not pointing any fingers, but everyone as a whole is to blame if that makes sense.

The subject was to keep 5 years old's from getting through. Along with the snow fence we will need stakes also. We have no choice if we want to have insurance and continue to race. Many of you can complain and will not do jack to contribute to hosting an event. So just post, whine and complain and polish your rig in the garage as without insurance we do not race. Dan, you have your foot in your mouth again. Learn THE FACTS BEFORE TO POP OFF!!!!

Hopefully the insurance folks can provide some definitions. Hot pits mean different things to different folks. As mentioned, boats sitting on carts is similar to walking through a spectator parking lot at a NASCAR race whereas the area close to where boats are being launched and dry fired is different. Limiting access to the launching area makes sence. Fencing off the set up area does not. I think we need to get some clarification from the insurance carrier as to just what they want. Jack

Both this and your previous post are exactly right.

Not blowing a gasket :-) have fun!

So I can go to an Indy Car race and get close enough that the fuel fumes burn my eyes. If I decide to attend a powerboat race the trailer area is dangerous and off limits. Guess where I'm going.

                Enjoy :-)
Goodbye, Dan. Have fun at Indy.

                  "pit or snow fencing"

Lemme see, doubt there will be snow when we race so lets go with "pit" fencing, which turns up near zero on google search. So I say we define "pit fencing". My input, "pit fencing" shall consist of a bright yellow band 2'' to 3" wide with "CAUTION" labeled in black letters on aforementioned bright yellow band, and "pit fence" shall be erected on simple stakes or tied to trees (when available) or any other stationary object (stationary for the time span of the race) including porta-potties.

Done - we have pit fence.

P.S. HokeyHydro Mobile Tattoo & Bikini Wax van will attend races and can provide an official APBA "Wrist Band" tattoo" on whichever appendage you desire, port or starboard. $50. Bikini or Brazilian Wax additional $$$.

                  Deal done.

Guys, we have to work with what's been handled down to us. However, it's not the end of the world. Think outside the box. For those in Chicago, see if multiple rows with a one inch gap between of caution tape will appease the insurance company. Might be a way to not keep snow fence companies in business and still keep insurance guys happy. If not, get clear definition of hot pits, and rethink how we launch our boats. I'll quote Monty python, always look on the bright side of life.....even if you don't agree with it!
When it comes to boat racing and the wife, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is permission, and of course I spent a number of nights sleeping on the couch!

Cost of Everything Goes Up - Even Racing

" Add snow fence to the increased membership fees and the club insurance fees and you have got a real winner for sure!!"

Perhaps we've forgotten ? Hello? .. This is Motorsports folks, not Soccer.
Takes money to enjoy this kinda fun. Risk needs to be managed (insured), to reduce exposure as much as possible. It is what it is .. We Reap what we Sow, eh ? .. Yep, non-compliance our fault. (The Snow Fence thing is a cheeseball way to justify the Event Rate Increase .. but guess what.. it's valid.) Let's move on .. shall we.

With participant numbers (Income) falling, and All other Fees (Overhead/Cost) to put on an Event on the rise .. the only place to make it up is ? Increase the Entry Fee's or, find a Sponsor with Deep Pockets .. and keep that Sponsor Happy ! (work harder)

It's either that or face the eventual financial demise of your local clubs. Simple business economics really. The clubs should never be expected to take it on the financial chin for your fun, (put on Races below cost).
No "loss leader" marketing tactic here .. and the days of "makin' it up on volume" Gone.

Accept it, Pay your Money, Go Have Fun and RACE !

It's about time the rest of the Country is just now going to get to "enjoy" those Wonderful Entry Fees the Left Coast Folks have been "enjoying" now for a few years.

Raise your Fee's, get the cryin' outta the way, then .. move forward and go to work on the Real Issue .. Participation and Growth.
1980 has been gone for a long time now folks.

I bet the ticket you purchased to get into a NASCAR or Indy race is your insurance waiver for the event, they just get more $$$ to be closer ( IE pit pass).

By your own definition the actual "hot pit" of a car race would be the pit (box) crew area and the race track...just sayin'.

There orange plastic mesh fence comes in a roll fairly cheap and easy to take up and down can be used over and over again and dont weigh much. Four ft high and 100 ft long is about 30.00
