Weight
What weight did you wrestle? How many hours did you spend making weight. I was 150lb now 220lb and try each year to lose some. Dont want to spend time in front of stove with rubber suit on to lose 10lb to make weight. Sorry but leave CSR alone. Maybe we can wrestle for it. LOL
Lets go boat racing with JABCD. Saterday is run classes that have at least 3 or more boats and those that need elimination heats. Run on Sunday all classes that have 5 or more, and combine those Sat. 3 boat class to make larger fields and you dont lose the money. If you dont want to combine on Sun. Get on the phone with your fellow racers and say next week lets get off your butt and show up or find out that you are 1 or 3 in regions around you. Let not eliminate any engines. Just find a place for all the old men and equipment to race. When they are finishing 7th in a 5 boat heat, or cant find parts, this is when they will buy new. But today money is an issue. Stories of spending $$$ and fine out next yr. its not legal or not able to run in your class.
Let the race committee handle Sunday schedule and combined classes or eliminated classes.

CSR Weight
This weight should be lowered to attract the restrictr Yamato 25SSR drivers back to CSR.
The CSR ride has enough punch to over come a the driver that is a few pounds over weight.
I will race it at whatever weight you propose.......but I believ for the good of the sport you could eventually elimante the restricted yamatos in the 25SSR class.

How about (under Dean's proposal) we increase CSR weight to 490 or so, and throw the current 25SSR class into C. Then we would have a boat for 200+ drivers like myself and a boat for all you skinny bastards with equal speeds. I believe the 25SSR weight is like 430 with the 9/16 restriction. I think if you look at the speeds in both classes you find they are VERY close.

I don't think I can afford to have Sam build it out of carbon fiber.
Right now the 160 to 180 pounders have the B/20 classes to race in. I know the 200+lbs guys need an affordable class or two without getting pushed into an expensive and fast D. It's much easier to add a few pounds of lead than it is to lop off a leg to make weight. This reminds me, I need to get my arse out and run a few miles.

I was just curious how the number 475 was picked, I don't think it should be changed. As a light driver I built my(Sornsen Williams Blackwell CSR) heavy so I wouldn't have to add allot of weight.
Dave it's not donuts, It's Tillamook ice cream.

Please read the following with a sense of humor:
I have heard the 470 weight for CU was proposed by the commisioners of regions 6 and 7 in an attempt to slow down Don Pontius, the first king of the C's.
In classic quid pro quo they offered to allow Champion Hot Rod in A stock.
I think that was the national meeting of 1973

The notion of not having multiple classes to run with the exact same equipment scares the hell of out of people.
We cannot propose anything that would cause one single current racer to consider quitting. Even if it would advance the credibility of stock outboard racing and even if we could somehow show that we would attract more racers. The voice of the one disgruntled racer (that is probably looking for an excuse to quit anyway) will tug on the heart strings of APBA and we will be having this exact same debate year after year........
Everyone wants to talk about consolidating classes. The goal should be consolidating racers.
So why not propose that if we remove a motor from a class that you have participated in for the last three years with that eliminated motor......APBA will trade your motor in for the new National motor of choice.
That would make for an interesting twist on a plan to go forward and not leave anyone behind. You just have to prove that you raced in more than one Region and that you raced in more than say 8 races per year. That would prove that you are a National racer. Otherwise you can run what ever you have at your local races for no national points and keep what you have.
