  • Help Locating Plywood

Looking for place that sells/carries Okuma (think I spelled it right) plywood. We're in Rhinelander, WI. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Go here: http://www.okoume.org/

That site has a listing of some suppliers. You can also google "okoume plywood" and find a lot of different sites and a lot of different prices. I doubt that you will find a local source and you will have to have it shipped in.

Okoume is also used in home-built aircraft so you might go to a small airport and see if anyone has any information there.

I personally can buy it here in Saint Louis at Wicks Aircraft Supply. About $85 for 6mm and $65 for 3mm.

Do they still race in Rhindlander? I ran there a couple of times with the UPNWORA (an alky club) in the mid 1960's - Tim Chance

$65 for 3mm ??? $85 for 6mm ??? That must be absolute aircraft certified plywood rather than marine BS-1088 plywood. I live on Coastal NC where wood boats rule. I paid $37 for 4mm BS-1088. 3mm is of course cheaper, and 6mm is about $60. Atlantic Veneer Mill Outlet, Beaufort, NC.

            If You Get it Shipped

Consider Noahs in Canada. They are very competitive in pricing and carry a wide range of boat building supplies. Considering your location, shipping may be a small cost. From them to me and a load of plywood it cost about $150.00, so I would expect yours to be a lot less.

I just ordered 20 sheet of Okoume from Noahs Marine for $950 with shipping. They charged me $47 for 5mm and $29.90 for 3mm plus shipping. Nobody else came close last year when I ordered wood and this year it is the same story.

Thanks everyone--your responses are greatly appreciated. I did google before posting here on hydroracer. Google can't compare to this forum. Tim, he has purchased all of his plywood from McCormick but I guess they are no longer carrying Okoume. Will forward all this info to the PitBoss. THANKS!!!
