          Cool pic, Coop....

I find the puff of white smoke interesting in the pic. It used to be customary to fire a cannon at the start of the race and I wonder if that smoke is from an engine being dry fired or a cannon? We used one back then in Trora, was there one in Region 7 at this time?

We used a 10 gauge Cannon for the 3 minute gun and the start.
The black powder made nice smoke. Maybe David Spud Hemp can chime in on his experience with a cannon.

              Coop...
I think it was at Burlington that Spud got hit by the wad from the blank
              in the cannon.

I am in the blurry blue boat (all fiberglass) apparently too fast for the camera.

                  Shoreline

                  Coop,

I see Stover Hire's 56-H on the shore. His boats were always beautiful...
I'm not one to know if it's a Hedlund or a Rinker....

                    My First Race Course

Oh yea, Neosho was my first race...June 21, 1973..
Made it into the finals in ASH with my Marchetti hydro and got spit out of it in the second turn. My boat kept going and almost hit shore. I had only been in my dads AU one time the weekend before.

How is that for a start of a racing career!!

                      Neosho?

looking at Google earth i would assume that turn 2 was by norht / south road that borders the lake?

if you put the clock on the large point on the south side of the lake could we race there?

                        56-h

It's a Hedlund. Stover used to wash his car and trailer on the way to a race if anything got the least bit dirty . Stover also refinished his boats complete with new painted racing number during the racing season. What can you say ? Stover's equipment was perfect

Is that Neosho WI? I was just looking at that on google... Is this normal for WI? I count 6 backyard motocrosss tracks within walking distance to the pond, (circled in red...) likely more hidden in the trees. It's packed with motorheads around there... looks like a great spot to race as far as potential racers are concerned. haha. Likely would not mind the noise either.
