2007 AOF Proposed “General Racing Rule” Changes

    1. Proposed Rule Change: The starting clock cannot be protested.

Reason: To achieve the same level of authority as scales, which cannot be protested

    APPROVE DISAPPROVE

    2. Proposed New Rule: The points to be scored on the best 10 of the first 11 races and Nationals, plus the East & West Coast Championships. The total points of these 12 races will be the National High Points winner. The points from the rest of the races will be added to these totals to find the Grand Champion as the year end high points.

Reason: To make it fair for all members across the United States, as some clubs run more races than others.

    APPROVE DISAPPROVE

    3. Proposed New Rule: The High Point’s drivers be awarded on the total points ac***ulated in a minimum of five (5) races.

Reason: To eliminate the 2000 point minimum currently in the rules, as many clubs do not run enough races to ac***ulate 2000 points.

    APPROVE DISAPPROVE

    4. Proposed New Rule: Allow boat Owner’s to ac***ulate points, and receive prizes as long as the boat Owner has paid for a full racing membership.

Reason: There are quite a few “experienced” Owner’s that do not race any longer, but still compete with there boats through other drivers.

    APPROVE DISAPPROVE

2007 AOF Proposed “By-Laws” Rule Changes

    1. Proposed New Rule: A section be put in the rulebook creating new “Categories”/ Each new category could have their own Category name. i.e. Drag; Super Light Tunnel; Flatbottom; PWC, etc.

Reason: Each new Category would have their own section of the rulebook for general racing rules and technical. This would keep each other’s rules separate and keep costs down of sending say, PWC rules to the outboard drivers who aren’t interested

    APPROVE DISAPPROVE

2007 AOF Proposed “Technical Rule” Changes

    All AOF Members

    1. Proposal: Change class names to be comparable with APBA, to allow for easier crossover between AOF and ABPA races. Example: Change Yamato 80 (Y80) to 20 SS, 102 Stock to C Stock, O to A stock, etc.

Rational: To promote more AOF boat racing with easier crossovers.

    APPROVE DISAPPROVE

    All Y-102 Drivers Only

    1. Proposal: Allow any Yamato 102, 202 or 302 motor which has been ported past factory spec to be reconditioned and placed back into legal service by replacing the sleeves with factory port dimensions. Factory specified pistons must still be used.

Rational: This change could place more Yamato motors back into service.

    APPROVE DISAPPROVE

    All B-1 Drivers Only

    1. Proposal: Allow OMC Flywheels #513444 or #513745 on all B-1 boats.

Rational: Parts are readily available from dealers

    APPROVE DISAPPROVE

    All D-Stock Drivers Only

    1. Proposal: Allow any plastic reeds to be used to replace factory reeds.

Rational: The factory reeds appear to be bending after about 6 heats of racing, and could break and ruin the motor

    APPROVE DISAPPROVE

      Russ,
When are the ballots due back from everyone. A deadline might be nice for those who may wait until the last minute!

          Did I miss something?

Just wondering where are the inboard rule changes? I know we sent some in to the general meeting.
