Charlie has asked me to post this bit of information. We are asking for you to provide us with any responses or questions.
CHARLIE'S COMPETITION CORNER
Well, the second half of the season is here and there's still quite a bit of racing coming up this year. I know boat counts are down all across the country, but some venues have done well when the races were close to town, the best is yet to come! Some regions, I know had some ruff weather, but for the most part the Northwest has been really outstanding. I know there's still some of you guys out there that probably haven't got the birds nests or the mice out of that rig that was stored in the barn this winter, but it's time to get out there and support the rest of the season. At least fuel costs are still reasonable.
Those of you that haven't planned a Nationals Event this year, and your vacation is a little later than normal, don't forget the AOF West Coast Nationals at Moses Lake, Washington September 26th and 27th, at the same location as the 2007 APBA Stock Nationals, it's absolutely beautiful at that time of year. Bring your fish poles and stay a few days longer, there's plenty of lakes and rivers around this part of the state.
It's time to start thinking about officer nominations and rule changes. If you have thoughts about rule changes, write them up and contact your rep or commissioner or any director, we'll all be glad to present it at the National Meeting if you can't make it. The National meeting will be in Moses Lake, Washington on November 7th. The location, meeting times and room rates have been posted on our website (www.aofracer.com) Watch the website for upcoming events.
Looking forward to the 2010 season, AOF is going to re-instate competition record events and record speed trials. At this time about half of all
competition records, on both courses are open for new record holders and all of the straightaway records are there for the taking. According to our rules, any record that hasn't been set for at least 10 years belongs to the last official record holder of that class for life. Congratulations to all that have held on all these years.
Just to let you know ahead of time, these new record events and speed trials will be officiated by our top officials and tech people, and our courses will be surveyed by Russ Dodge for all events. Russ Dodge, for you that are not acquainted with him and his wife Carol, are responsible for practically all competition and kilo record events on the west coast and throughout the country for all categories of racing at such locations as Lawrence Lake, DeLake, Seattle, San Diego, Hawaii, Modesto and the list goes on, from J Runabouts to Unlimited Hydros and special purpose events for over 30 years.
We may have our first event as soon as spring of 2010. So if you're a record setter, remember that almost every driver that can make two consecutive runs, one in each direction back to back and you have the fastest recorded speed in your class, you will be the new current straightaway record holder. Oh, you also must be LEGAL. So start testing those new props and setups.
As always, if you have any questions don't hesitate to call or email.
