I guess it was a "first" seeing so many raceboats in the parking lot of a funeral home. Many racers stopped here on their way to the race in Raleigh, NC to pay their respects to Travis. So many other racers came from Florida to Canada to show their love and respect for Travis and Gary and Marsha and the Pond family. A slide show of pictures put together by Aimie and Abby that was shown at the service brought the tissues out of everyone's pockets. There were so many racers there that Gary said it "looked like the Nationals". There were so many people at the service that they filled two rooms, with people standing against the walls, and the outer hallway was filled, also. It was a beautiful service. I have never been so proud to be a part of such a wonderful group of people. Boat racers and their families are truly special.
I personally would like to thank all of the people who came today to show their support for this wonderful family in their time of need.
Marsha, Gary, Aimie, Abby and Jimmy, you will be in our thoughts and prayers for many days to come, and thank you for sharing Travis with all of us. He will be in our hearts forever.
