                    The "Original"

My good friend Rob Cotton from Niagara Falls, NY was the first to build this style of runabout. If in doubt refer to Rusty Rae's book "Speed and Spray" about the 1974 Stock Nationals at Dayton. There is a picture of Rob in his boat. It did not have the side fin but had the aerodynamic shape that is in vogue now. Upstate New York (Region 2) was a hot bed of boat building during the 60's,70's, and 80's with the likes of Rob Cotton, Leigh Furnal,Pat Davids, Ron Waterson, Tucker Dolger, Bill Mckeever and myself.

I have always wondered who came up with that deck design.

                        Morris, Hauenstein, Fuchslin...

Do you have to be from the Central Valley to order one?

                          I beleive

George did a lot of modifications to Alt's design to get it to perform as good as it does now. Matt got out of boat building before the design could be perfected, and George seems to have hit big.

As for how old the design is, it is very old conceptually. I think Kreir has built a side fin runabout, that is just about the norm in PRO runabouts, for a lot of years. The deck design seems to be very similar, with subtle changes here and there. It works well in both applications.

Never the less, thanks Revolution Boats for doing all you do to make racing a little more affordable. All you ahve to do now is talk Lonnie into building a bunch of 44's and offer the boats as a package deal for the general public wanting to race. If the boats are like Georges, they are very easy to drive, and appear to be very safe even for a newbie. I have seen both George and Lonnie drive the crap out of those boats and they just carve around the corner.

                              Lonnie,

Just curious. How much for a race ready, D Mod motor?

If you don't want to display here, you can PM me.

                              Thx.
