I have been replacing worn/stripped/ cracked D quicksilver gearcase threads with a welded on replacement section technique for 20 years now, having completed many of these. You would have to look very closely when you get it back from me to even see the new welded on section. Most likely your 44xs case is a candidate for this, however I would need to inspect it first. Cost? $225.00 plus shipping and I would also include re-assembling your foot with your internal pieces plus $ for any additional needed parts.I would supply a copy of my special setup sheet to show what shims were installed in which locations, etc..
