I purchased mine on line at

    http://www.ebay.ie/itm/2-New-NOVA-II...8AAOSwYGFUvoGf

Here is what I just answered to John Sharp a Y80 mod driver that is having trouble with burning out Nova module under load. My comments will not guarantee a fix for that but it might fix it.

Were the Nova's mounted away from heat like on the outside of the mag. They mention that they need to be away from heat and good ventilation. I mounted mine on a alum 90 degree bracket and put both Nova's on that and mounted the bracket to the left side of the engine viewed from the front using one of the bolts for the reed manifold. Made sure the spray cover didn't conflict the Nova's. The Nova's were grounded to the bracket and the other wire from each Nova was routed into the mag underneath the mag handle thru an existing bolt hole and up thru the hole where coil wires go. Then each wire was connected to the appropriate internal wires for each cylinder.

I used an old set of points with the movable arm removed to connect all the wires under the mag cover.

To have a kill switch need to use the 3 wire type used on the 301 so that when the kill switch clip is pulled out both points go to ground.

I have heard that Nova's have failed, Grandpa racer has had that happen to his 102.

First I found using a drill to turn the engine will not give a correct reading at higher revs.

I have a locked mag and a stock Y80. The quirk that I found with the Nova's is when timing with a light to get an accurate reading for advance I had to rev the engine to about 4000 to set it say 0.200". Then I noticed that when idled down the timing changed different than what was set. In fact after the timing was set at desired and when holding the light on the timing mark and increasing rpm the timing advanced way beyond what I had set until it reached about 4000. I do not have a test wheel so I do not know what the timing would be at higher rpm to peak.

I am concerned about the timing change with the Nova's. They are the basic model sold on line and do not have a built in variable advance especially one that goes up then down with rpm?.

The engine has good rope over spark and starts easy on a stand, I have not run it on the hydro at full bore. Future will reveal what gives and if the the Nova's fail even on the outside?

In your case if the Nova's are inside the mag I would remount the Nova's away from heat like I suggest and let me know what happens.
