  • World Championships in Germany- Live Streamed

The U.S. A-team is traveling to the picturesque central German town of Traben-Tarbach this week for the World Hydroplane Championship, on June 3-4. The scenic venue, nestled in the heart of The Mosel River Valley, boasts some of the countries premiere vineyards and is a huge tourist attraction for sightseeing and wine tours so huge crowds numbering in the thousands are expected to line the banks. The team, which will be competing in the OSY-400 Class, will be fielding two boats in this year’s race. The #8 will be piloted by Mike Akerstrom from Westford, Massachusetts and the #16 will be driven by Team Captain Billy Allen from Quincy. Although the venue is beautiful, the race course is said to be one of the most challenging on the UIM European schedule. With a bend in the tight river and a one pin turn at each end, the Americans will be fighting some rough water as well as the best teams in the world.

For updates from the pits, be sure to follow the team on Facebook: U.S. A-Team Boat Racing.

The event will be live-streamed on Sunday, and you can tune into the action at the link below. We'll be posting updates with the time of each heat once we have a firm schedule.
