A Beautiful day for racing for the opening round of the US Title Series and lots of action.

We kicked it off with 250 runabouts the first class of the day. J.J. Walls driving the Brinkman entry promptly went out and won the first heat as the defending National champion from 2017. Jason Sailer Finished in the second spot which would figure in in the final result.

Jason Rios off the last to eat when to take the title overall which was his first USTS win.

Both Tim Small and Rich Krier were non-factors Because of engine problems.

    JJ
    Paul Bosnich

Next up who is a great field of 350 Hydro’s. Amy Nydahl let him up in the first heat and ran off and hid from Neil LaRose and Gary Buskirk. Kurt Nydahl Suffered engine problems in both the first and the third heat with Amy taking the three heat wins.

In the second heat Neil LaRose,Amy, Kurtis, and Gary Buskirk hit the starting line 4 wide. As they Entered the first turn Neil LaRose had the boat in the air, it came down And snap rolled. The red flag came up and Neil was attended to. Sore, but verticals, the safety crew gave him the once over and released him to his pits. This was the second flip for that boat in 24 hours as his son Zack blew it over testing.

We’re running for heats total of 1100 Hydro with first-time driver Eric Van Over Taking one heat and Dan Kirts taking the other. I say first-time driver, But only as far as driving a capsule boat does that pertain. Eric has been a long time champion in the modified division and now driving the Thirlby automotive capsule, He showed his versatility in handling this equipment congrats.

Dan and Eric tied up with 700 points each. Dan with over 40 national championships and three world championships still has it as he won the nationals and 500 Hydro the last two years in a text. More after the two heats tomorrow.

Brady Brinkman showed the way In K-Pro, With two heat wins today and tomorrow heats to be run tomorrow. Cooper Thompson finished 2nd and Hudson Gryskiwitz running is first ever race in K-Pro. Hudson son of Cortney and Jared with proud Grand pa Pete lookin on.

We had 12 500 runabout it sounds exciting and it was. Driving the Pat Wright entry, Brian Payn Had a good lead until he was unable to pull the pipe the last two laps of the first heat and Tom Kirts overtook for heat win.

In the second heat Bryan took the lead and seemingly was on his way to victory, however he missed the bottom exit pin, had to turn back collect the pin and found himself Back in the 5th position and then set sail to try to gain back some positions. As Andrew Thirlby Crossed the finish line, Andy Kirts in 2nd place, about 50 yards from the finish saw his boat go left, then right, then back left and up and over he wins. Andy was transported but conscious and talking to the safety people and had a couple of cuts on his leg. No further information until tomorrow when we get a chance to talk to his family.

And 125 Hydro, Brad Dygert Ran off and hid In the first two hates with Jon Wienandt Finishing up with a second and a third in those 2 heats did Kristi Ellison.

In the third and final heat Brad, Jon, Kristi and McKenzie Hellsten hit the first turn together with Brad Hooking the entry buoy and it was disqualified. Jon Went on to win the 3rd heat And the win overall. Kristi finished in the second spot overall and Brad Dygert for third.

My thanks to Todd, Sue and her crew, Big Pal, and Rick Jedwabny.

    See you tomorrow

Austin is running the runabout and Eric has stepped into the capsule hydro this year. Eric ran really strong , was in line for the win until he had kill switch issues.
