  • USTS result for Sunday at Constantine

The USTS completed round number 4 at Constantine on Sunday with another day of great racing and safety. No one hit the water either day and all are headed now to the USTS Nationals at the mecca of boat racing, Depue, Illinois, with The Depue Men’s Club already making ready for us.

In the K-Pro division, Mackenzie Hellsten continued her winning ways as she took both heats run on Sunday for the overall win with 3 heat wins and a second. Young Cooper Thompson is improving every race, he hit every start in all four heats and ended up on the podium as well with Brady Brinkman taking the second spot overall.

350H came up with the usual battle amongst the Nydahl’s, Amy and Kurtis, along with Gary Buskirk vying for the title in every heat. Kurtis took 2 firsts and a second, while his sister Amy, took a first and two seconds, with Gary taking the 3 third place finishes.

250R was mixed up like cement with Paul Bosnich, Tim Small, and Rich Krier all taking a heat win, but Rich’s was the most important one, as he finished out front in the 3rd and final heat to garner enough points to take the win overall. Tim Small DNS in the first heat but won a heat and finished second in the 3rd heat for second overall.

500H was Danny, Danny, Danny, as Dan Kirts took all three heat with Tim Borway and Jake Hoffert chasing him for the podium finishes. Danny gave himself a one day late birthday present with this 500H win and heads to Depue as the defending Champ from 2016 and hope to repeat.
125H came up and to be honest, it was pretty close to the results of what happened in the 250R category. David Tenny took the first heat running away from the field, Brad Dygert then took the next two heats, while he sat on the back stretch in the first heat watching David take the win. Brandon Mills from Lakeland, Fl. Driving a TBR hydro drove a very solid 3 heats to finish 2 twice to go with a 3rd place and by 25 points took home the title over Dygert and his two heat wins and a DNF. David parlayed his heat win with other finishes and a DNS to take the other podium finish

We finished off the day with the big 500R and again the mixer for the cement was out and away we went. Andrew Thirlby won the first heat, but DNF the second heat, while Tim Small took the 3rd heat after a DNS in the first heat, while Tom Kirts took a heat as well. In fact , Tom had a first and a fourth and led the points to the 3rd heat, only to have a DNF attached to him as he sat on the back stretch watching Tim win and take the win with his first and second place finishes.

Our thanks to the Constantine American Legion Post for their work and hospitality. Also to Sue and Denise, Rick Jedwabny, and of course the boss Todd Brinkman, many thanks for a job well done each and every time.
Now on to the best place in the world to hold a Nationals with the best sponsor on the planet, The Depue Men’s club. Come have some fun with us this next weekend.
