    US Title Series

    2014 YEAR END - HI-POINT PRO CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

    2014 proved to be a good year of Racing for the US Title Series. The Racing consisted of six Races in six states, Season opener in April at Winter Haven Florida, Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin, Winona Minnesota, start of Speed Week - Constantine Michigan, PRO Nationals at DePue Illinois, and the Series Finals in September at Johnson City Tennessee, that’s Six months of High Speed Racing!

    The US Title Series is comprised of 12 Classes:
    • Top Hydro – 1100cc Capsule Hydro
    • 500cc Capsule Hydro
    • 350cc Hydro
    • 250cc Hydro
    • 175cc Hydro
    • 125cc Hydro
    • KPRO Hydro
    • 700cc Runabout
    • 500cc Runabout
    • 350cc Runabout
    • 250cc Runabout
    • 125cc Runabout

    One Hundred and Forty-nine Entries were registered into the 12 Classes:
    • 11 Racers in 1100cc H
    • 11 Racers in 500cc H
    • 13 Racers in 350cc H
    • 18 Racers in 250cc H
    • 17 Racers in 175cc H
    • 16 Racers in 125cc H
    • 8 Racers in KPRO H
    • 9 Racers in 700cc R
    • 15 Racers in 500cc R
    • 10 Racers in 350cc R
    • 10 Racers in 250cc R
    • 11 Racers in 125cc R


    250cc, 175cc, and 125cc Hydro & 500cc Runabout are the most popular open classes.

    Top Hydro – 1100cc Capsule Hydro

    With Three different Winners in the Series, 1100cc Hydro High Point Champion & USTS PRO Nationals Champ for 2014 falls to “speedy” Amy Nydahl M-14 “The fastest girl on the water!” she wins the Title with 2194 points, by having a win at the Nationals and three additional wins, you go girl!!

    Second goes to Ike Yoder M-50 at 1180.5 points with 1 Second & 1 Third

    Third at 953.5 points goes to Doug Hall #51 with 1 Win & 1 Second
    4th Rick Saver M-4 - 731.5 points with 1 Second & 1 Third
    5th Sean McKean T-4 - 700 points
    6th Mark Gryskiewicz G-55 – 637.5 points
    7th Tie - David Hooten & Tom Adkins #32 – 577 points
    8th Jim Kirts M-9 – 403.5 points
    9th Tim Borway P-7 – 370.5 points
    10th Jim Wright #611 – 95 points


    700cc Runabout

    This Class had Four different Winners during the Series run, Mike Thirlby in M – 47 was the point leader in 700cc Runabout coming to Johnson City. Three other boats driven by Brian Payn, Andrew Thirlby, and Derek Gesier could have pull off an upset to win the Title. Mike Thirlby raced for a hard fought 3rd place finish and won the 700cc Runabout High Point Championship with 1187.5 points.

    Second goes to Derek Gesler C-99 at 1150 points with 1 Win & 2 Seconds

    Third at 936.5 points goes to Brian Payn with 1 Win & 1 Third
    4th Andrew Thirlby – 769 points and a USTS PRO National Win
    5th Jim Kirts M-9 – 517.5 points
    6th Tie - Pete Voss N-66 & RC Hawie – 300 points
    7th Jared Gryskiewicz G-55 – 190.5 points
    8th Steve Litzell – 127 points


    500cc Capsule Hydro

    500cc Capsule Hydro was too close to call entering into Johnson City, Ike Yoder in M – 50 was leading Tom Adkins in #32 by only 152 points. This Class had 5 different Winners in 2014. Ike Yoder pulled off a hard fought Win to become the USTS High Point Champion for 2014 with 1902 points, and Tom Adkins pulled off a win at DePue to become the USTS PRO National Champ.

    Second goes to Tom Adkins with 1575 points with 1 National Win & 1 Second

    Third at 953.5 points goes to Rick Saver with 1 Win & 1 Second
    4th Doug Hall #51 – 769 points
    5th Mark Grskiewicz G-56 – 506.5 points
    6th Tie – Sean McKean, & David Hooten – 400 points
    7th Jim Wright #611 – 127 points
    8th Tie - Amy Nydahl M-14, Tim Borway P-7, and Jim Kirts M-9


    500cc Runabout

    In 500cc Runabout, with a USTS PRO Nationals win and three other Series wins, Andrew Thirlby is the USTS High Point Champion for 2014 with 1871 points. Last year he thought you had to be crazy to race in this class and now he is the Double Champ!

    Second goes to Brian Payn X-21 at 1216.5 points with 1 Win

    Third at 1037 points goes to Derek Gesler C-99 with 1 Win & 2 Thirds
    4th Brennen Burklund – 871.5 points with 1 Second
    5th Jared Gryskiewicz G-55 – 778.5 points
    6th Jim Kirts M-9 – 754.5 points
    7th Pete Voss N-66 – 737.5 points
    8th Mike Thirlby – 701 points
    9th Tie - Kurtis Nydahl, and RC Hawie – 300 points
    10th Tie – Tim Chance, Brian Palmquist, Marcus Johnson, and Roger Schmidt


    350cc Hydro

    With Six different Winners in the 2014 - 6 Race US Title Series, the 350cc Hydro High Point Championship was open to three drivers Amy Nydahl in W – 71 with 1402 points, Ike Yoder in M – 50 with 1314.5 points, and Gary Buskirk Jr in #97 with 1094 points, as they came to Johnson City this was another must see race. Ike Yoder M-50 pulled out the Win to become the 350cc Hydro High Point Champion with1614.5 points, The USTS 350cc PRO National Champion is Jeff Kugler #101.

    Second goes to Amy Nydahl W-71 at 1497 points with 3 Second & 1 Third

    Third at 1319 points goes to Gary Buskirk Jr. #97 with 1 Win & 1 Seconds
    4th William Tetro #45 – 869 points with 1 Win & 1 Second
    5th Jeff Kugler #101– 671 points with 1 National Win
    6th David Michell #6 – 527 points

    350cc Runabout

    Driving the fast #5, Tim Small had a bad day in Johnson City in keeping this fast Boat within the Race Course. Tim Small wins the 350cc Runabout High Point Champion with 1650 points by having three Series wins and another strong second at the DePue PRO US Title Series Nationals. Brian Payn X-21 is the PRO US Title Series National Champion.

    250cc Hydro

    Amy Nydahl in #71 was the 250cc Hydro Series Leader coming into Johnson City, followed closely by Eric Schmidt trailing by only 79 points, and with brother Kurtis Nydahl in #17 not far behind. With Six different Winners in the 2014 - 6 Race Series, Amy Nydahl pulled a strong third and becomes the 250cc Hydro High Point Champion with1468.5 points, brother Kurtis is the USTS 250cc Hydro PRO National Champion.

    Second goes to Eric Schmidt at 1291.5 points with 1 Win & 1 Second

    Third at 1065 points goes to Kurtis Nydahl #17 with 1 National Win & 2 Fourths

    With Three different Winners in the 2014 - 6 Race US Title Series, the High Point Champion for 2014 in 175cc Hydro goes to Todd Anderson, driving boat #11, with 1800 points, Todd won the PRO US Title Series Nationals and the three other Series Races.

    Second goes to Raymond Hammond (R) #9 at 1282 points with 1 Win & 2 Seconds

    Third at 1047.5 points goes to Jake Quesse V-8 with 1 Win & 1 Third

    125cc Hydro

    Coming into Johnson City the 125cc Hydro, the High Point Champion was contested by five drivers, David Jones with 1027 point lead, David Tenney in D – 10E with 900 points, Pete Kelly with 879.5 points, Jake Quesse in #93 with 836.5 points, and finally novice Raymond Hammond with 743.5 points. It was anybody guess who would pull out the win.
    Pete Kelly pulled out the win in an upset to David Jones. Pete ended with 1279.5 point becomes the 2014 US Title Series 125cc Hydro Hi-Point Champion. David Jones won the US Title Series PRO Nationals.

    Second goes to David Tenney D-10E at 1200 points with 2 Seconds & 2 Thirds

    Third at 1098 points goes to David Jones with 1 National Win & 1 Second

    Third at 1109.5 points goes to Lyndsay McGrath Y-21 with 1 Second & 2 Thirds
    4th Jackson Hall #51 – 1000 points with 2 Win including the Nationals
    5th Mackenzie Hellsten – 853.5 points
    6th Brittany Wright V-94 – 525 points
    7th Tie – Maxine Pulisper Y-12, Shannon McGrath Y-20

    Remember we do this for fun, be careful out there. Please keep Sean McKean in your thoughts and prayers, he was severely injured competing in our 1100cc Hydro Nationals in July and remains in medical treatment, all the best to Sean and his family.
